Last month I completed a 45-hrs course with In-Touch Education and am now qualified to teach Self-Myofasical Release (SMFR) techniques. These are gentle but highly effective self-massage techniques using foam rollers, peanuts or balls of various sizes to apply pressure to muscles and fascia.
The techniques I have learned utilise the breath and encourage qualities of 'letting go' and 'melting' over the tool. Sometimes we add slow and controlled movement. SMFR has been shown to reduce tissue tightness and tension, increase blood flow, improve joint mobility, regulate the nervous system, and enhance body awareness.
I currently weave these techniques into my 1:1 Pilates and Integrated Movment sessions to help clients achieve their full movement potential. In the future, I'll also offer SMFR group workshops.
