The government must listen:

1. Reverse all cuts to the ASGSF
2. Conduct a robust and rigorous independent consultation with the sector and families
3. Make the ASGSF a permanent, ring fenced fund.

The importance of using the right language...

I was disappointed yesterday (that may be an understatement...) as when I went to sign up for a Local Authority training account, on being invited to select a number of tickboxes according to my personal situation, there was an option under 'do you consider yourself to be disabled' which read:

'Yes - cognitive impairment (such as autistic spectrum disorder)'

The team responsible for designing this online form really needs to do better than this as it reflects the whole organisation. Autism is not a cognitive impairment!

To add irony to the situation, the online form I was filling in was to be able to look at any further training in inclusion and neurodivergence on offer in my local area.

I'll be contacting them to suggest they change their use of language in these key places - it's simple stuff, but the impact of getting it wrong can be huge.
