Do you suffer with swollen, heavy legs?

I'm often talking about the benefits of compression therapy with my patients, and I know there are many people who don't like the idea. However, as this clip shows, the results can be absolutely incredible.

This was a complicated case, and not all compression therapy is as complex as this, but this lady's life is completely transformed. It's so wonderful to see! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

After a really lovely chapter at Castle Clinic, I just wanted to share that I’ll be moving on to a new post soon.

I’ve genuinely loved my time there β€” it’s been such a pleasure getting to know so many of you, and being part of your care. I’ll really miss the chats, the laughs, and seeing familiar faces each day.

Thank you so much for all your support, kindness, and trust β€” it’s meant a lot to me.

But don't worry, the wonderful Eloise Snowdon-Higgs will be taking over from me. To book an appointment with Eloise, please call 07861187105, or email podiatrycarebristol@yahoo.com.

Take care,

Holly

A brilliant day last week at the dermoscopy course with the Primary Care Dermatology Society.

Really proud to be there alongside my uni friends, representing podiatry in a predominantly GP audience.

Came away with new knowledge, added clinical skills to my repertoire, and an added bonus of catching up with great friends and colleagues. 😊

Today was an incredible day of learning and development at the cadaver lab, honing my extended scope podiatry skills.

Working with cadaveric specimens allowed me to practise and refine skin surgery techniques, steroid injection approaches, and detailed anatomical dissection in a way that simply isn’t possible elsewhere. Experiences like this are invaluable for deepening anatomical understanding and improving the precision and safety of the procedures we perform in clinic.

Continuous professional development is a vital part of providing the highest standard of patient care, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside other clinicians committed to advancing their skills.

A fascinating, humbling, and highly educational day..

Thank you to Ian Reilly for your expertise and terrible jokes, as always!

It's careers week, so this afternoon I have been giving a talk to some primary school children about a career in podiatry, telling them all about what we do, who we help, and how to become a podiatrist. πŸ¦ΆπŸ»πŸ’‰πŸ’ŠπŸ˜·πŸ₯

The children were all very interested in learning about the job, listened carefully to my presentation, enjoyed looking at all the equipment, and asked loads of questions. They were very polite and engaged, and lots of them said they would like to become a podiatrist when they're older! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Winter is well and truly underway, with record numbers being admitted to hospital with flu.

It is reported that A&E departments are being clogged up with minor complaints that could be treated elsewhere, including ingrown nails. While an ingrown nail is excruciatingly painful and can get infected, A&E is not the best place to get it treated.

🦢🏻 Why choose a Podiatrist instead? 🦢🏻

⏳ Skip the wait: Avoid the 4+ hour wait in a crowded waiting room.
🦠 Avoid the germs: Stay away from a hospital environment where flu is circulating.
πŸ‘©πŸ»β€βš•οΈSpecialist care: We have the specific tools, anaesthetics, and expertise to fix the nail permanently. A&E often only provides temporary relief (antibiotics), whereas we get to the root of the problem.

πŸ“£ Exciting news to share! 🌟

I’m thrilled to let you all know that I’ve been accepted to study for my MSc in Advancing Practice in Theory of Podiatric Surgery at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh! πŸŽ“πŸ‘£

This is such an exciting step for me, and I can’t wait to build on my knowledge and skills so I can continue giving my patients the very best care possible.

A huge thank you to all of my wonderful patients and colleagues for your ongoing support β€” it really means the world. Here’s to new challenges, more learning, and lots of happy feet! πŸ¦ΆπŸ’™
