At 53 years old and having maintained my body weight, composition and strength for the last 5-6 years, I (like us all!) go through '๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ป๐' of each year where weight, shape & energy fluctuates.
๐๐ปThis is perfectly normal.
My long-term goal is that every year I end up looking and feeling the same as I did at the same time last year - my version of 'maintenance'.
After all, we don't simply stay '๐ฆ๐น๐ข๐ค๐ต๐ญ๐บ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ด๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ' day after day, week after week or month after month do we!
(๐ ๐ฅ๐ฐ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฌ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ถ๐จ๐ฉ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ข ๐บ๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ ๐ช๐ด ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐จ ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ถ๐จ๐ฉ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฑ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ ๐ด๐ฉ๐ช๐ต ๐ต๐ฐ๐จ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ!)
Our body is in constant flux, subjected to external forces and environmental changes, which in turn influence hormones.
(๐๐ฆ ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ข ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ญ๐ช๐ค๐ข๐ต๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ!) ๐คช
Anyway, for the next 4 weeks I am going to place myself in a calorie deficit, whilst maintaining a structured training program and my usual busy work/lifestyle.
This is with the aim of cutting the squishy / wobbly bit around the belly that has accumulated over the past 6-7 months of disruption to my usual environment and routine. ๐๐ป
Some people say that a Fitness / Health / Nutrition Coach's body is a walking, talking billboard for their service and lifestyle, and I tend to agree. It's not 100% necessary for a Coach to demonstrate they have the training, experience and knowledge to deliver, however I think we ๐ด๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ญ๐ฅ show this in ourselves.
I'm also realistic, in that most of my client base are busy, hard working business owning, dads, who cannot afford to suddenly change their whole environment and lifestyle to become a ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ช-๐ฑ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ง๐ฆ๐ด๐ด๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ ๐ข๐ต๐ฉ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฆ!
This is why I advocate for ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐น๐น ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ๐, building ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฝ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ and looking at the whole picture (not just food!).
