Confirmed case numbers of measles in the UK have stabilised in the last 12-months, but there has undoubtedly been a resurgence of measles in England and around the world in recent years.
After reaching the highest number of cases recorded annually for over a decade in 2024, numbers stabilised in 2025 at around 950 recorded cases. Most of the cases in England have been in children under the age of 10 years with many outbreaks linked to nurseries and schools.
There’s no specific medical treatment for measles, so it’s important to get vaccinated as it’s the best protection against becoming seriously unwell. Swipe through for a reminder about what measles is and how to prevent or deal with an infection.
