Who else talks to their pet? What do you talk about?

My cat is my emotional support animal, although she is pretty rubbish in a crisis and tends to bog off 🤣

She brings me a lot of joy and comfort regardless.

She often jumps up on the massage couch during a reiki session and gives my clients cat therapy.

During dreadlock appointments she will often attack my clients feet then jump on their laps for the session.

She is such a character!

I feel like crap today and I have brain fog.

I still had to take the woofers out and it was worth it....it was cold, misty, magical and beautiful.

In my happy place......climbing trees and foraging.

I have been in Bristol this weekend so I took the opportunity to visit some of my favourite trees and found a new friend for climbing .... A beautiful redwood cedar with branches winding round it like a staircase. She gifted me some branches to make some cleaning spray for my home.

I went to visit the Elder I have been working with for several years now. She is not in the best of health and it's sad that she is dying. However she gifted me some jelly ears which are mainly found growing on dead Elders so I took some and tonight I will make a noodle soup with them.

I also went to visit my favourite oak and removed the ribbons tied to the branches.
They were synthetic/plastic ribbons and the magic won't work with these.
The traditional way of wishing on a tree is to tie a clootie (a ribbon/piece of fabric/grass/hair/vine) on a branch that will biodegrade over time.
The magic happens as the clootie rots away. Tying synthetic ribbons and fabric is littering and bad for the trees and the environment. Anything fabric needs to be made from 100% cotton, h**p, bamboo, wool or real silk.
I found some ribbons had become so embedded that the tree was growing over them. I removed as much as I could.

Dark night of the soul

A time of shedding what no longer serves you

A death

A rebirth

It hurts

It's messy

It can be scary

It can lead you into a pit of despair where old thought and behaviour patterns resurface. Deep wounds that you thought you had healed can be reopened and feel as painful as they did when they were created.

This is where I have been over the darkest months of the year.  I had to step away from social media and have let my work slide as I sat with deep grief and pain.

It has been dark.

It has been scary.

It has been ugly.

It has been beautiful.

It has been necessary.

I am thankful for the support I have received from my love, my wombniverse and my therapist.

I am thankful I live in nature, for being able to seek solace in the woods and from the river.

I am finally climbing out of the pit.

Tentatively I am emerging, raw and tender.

I am rising yet again like a pheonix from the ashes.

Moving your body isn't just exercise, it's medicine as well, and here are 4 reasons  why dancing is good for you....

1. It changes your brain chemistry
by releasing endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. These are the feel-good chemicals that reduce stress and boost your mood.

2. It helps you to process your emotions Emotions live in your body. When you move, you release tension and stuck energy.

3. It regulates your nervous system  Rhythmic movement helps shift you out of fight-or-flight. Dancing can calm your breathing, soften your body, and ground you.

4. It strengthens your body and increases fitness levels.
Dance can increase flexibility, balance, and help with coordination. It also supports your  heart and circulation.

You don't have to 'good' at dancing. You just need to move your body in a way that feels good for you!

Get ready with me to go to a Witches Tea Party.

A gathering of nearly 60 witches going for high tea and ceremony in their finest witchy outfits.

This is my first attempt at a get ready with me and I didn't leave enough time to film it all or get ready before I had to leave 🤣

I was also having too much fun at the tea party to take any pictures apart from the ones my friend took of me on the swing!

The tea party was lots of fun and it was great to catch up with my priestess sisters and other witches from Bristol and beyond.

Not every day is going to go smoothly. It's important to have things in place to help regulate yourself when things go a bit or a lot wonky.

Some techniques I use to regulate myself are:

Remembering to breath - I take a moment to place a hand on my chest and to take some deep, slow intentional breaths. This helps me to come back into my body and ground.

Stepping away from the situation - if possible I will remove myself from the situation for 5 - 10 minutes, longer if needed. At home I go outside and look at my surroundings and take time to notice things like the wind moving the trees and what birds or land animals are around. This helps give me space to come back to presence and ground

Drumming - I find holding my medicine drum on my chest and playing it can really help move any trapped energy and emotions. It's great if you are angry as you can beat the living s**t out of it......a very healthy way to release that rage!

Dancing - moving my body and dancing brings me back into myself and enables me to dance through my emotions

Chanting - it slows your breath, gives you something to focus on and creates vibrations in your body that help sooth your nervous system.

There are so many ways to regulate yourself, these are just a few of my favourite ways.

I would love to know what your favourite ways of regulating yourself are. Drop them in the comments below and let's inspire each other!
