⚽️ No football or events.

🅿️ Ashton Court has been busy the last few weeks so be prompt at 8.30.

Didn't we have a lovely day at Chipping Sodbury 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer. 😃.

It was a bit damp but it was a great 5KYW turn out. 💙

Today is World Cancer Day, 1 in 2 of us is likely to get cancer at some point in our lives. 5KYW is a great support network for those impacted by cancer directly or indirectly.

To show our support we will be attending Chipping Sodbury 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer and Chipping Sodbury Parkrun on Saturday 6th, wearing our blue tops with pride.

Come and say hello, we will be staying for coffee and cake afterwards. You don’t need to run either 😁💙🎂

Hello you lovely people! 😃
Saturday is not only the last day of January, it's also our first 5KYW group meeting of 2026. 🎉
Meet as usual at 8.30 prompt. 👍
🌦 Showers forecast by The Met Office so please dress appropriately, Scuba gear recommended for the puddles on the plateau. 🤿
⚽️ No sport or events to affect us.
👕Don't forget it's the 5th and final week of the 5KYW Erdinger challenge. 🥈

WORLD CANCER DAY.

Looking ahead, World Cancer Day is on 4th February. To mark this you are invited to join our friends at Chipping Sodbury 5KYW for a area meeting on Saturday 7th February at their parkrun. 💙

5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer is a a community-based initiative to encourage those living with and beyond cancer, families, friends and those working in cancer services to walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer at a local 5k Your Way parkrun event on the last Saturday of every month.

What we are:

• A support group with a difference.

• A run and walking club with a difference.

• A social opportunity with a difference.

• A coffee morning with a difference.

• Founded by Lucy Gossage, Gemma Hillier-Moses and MOVE Charity.

The Benefits of Moving More.

Exercise has ENORMOUS benefits for people living with and beyond cancer.

· It reduces cancer related fatigue.

· Helps to preserve cardiorespiratory and muscular fitness.

· May reduce treatment side effects.

· Improves psychological well-being.

· May reduce the risk of cancer recurrence and prolong survival.

· But most importantly it's social and fun.

Aims of 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer.

· To provide a monthly support network for those living with and beyond cancer by encouraging participation at a local parkrun the last Saturday of every month.

· To build friendships.

· To encourage participation in physical activity.

· To improve confidence and self-esteem.

· To promote skill development, especially through our ambassador roles and volunteering.

· To encourage participation in local parkrun's, and other physical activity opportunities, independently of 5k Your Way.

· To reduce social isolation and connect with already existing community groups.

· To encourage health-care professionals to signpost patients and carers to parkrun as a way of improving health and well-being.

· To encourage increased participation in physical activity by health care professionals involved in cancer care.
