Push-ups Challenge - Day 29
2,900 push-ups completed
As I completed my 2,899th push-up, I felt a new pain in my left elbow. I immediately spoke to my doctor who was on standby in the living room.
He informed me that the inflammonated crustobursitis which developed in the paella of my knee in the latter stages of last September’s 100k challenge has reoccurred and immigrated in a small boat-like vesicle to my elbow.
There are no words that can adequately describe the pain.
Not only that but it has mutationalised and could attack by osmosis the part of my brain (the Shatner’s Tribble) which is concerned with determining what is up and what is down in relation to exercises that require a pushing motion.
He advised complete rest.
‘But I have one day to go!’ I protested. He sucked air in through his teeth, gave it some thought, and then informed me that I would be okay so long as I do not exceed 99 push-ups tomorrow.
‘But I need to do 100 in order to complete my challenge!’
His expression changed and be slowly leaned in closer. ‘Mark my words: if you exceed 99 push-ups tomorrow, there is a 98.5% chance that your olecranon will explode and take not only you but most of the surrounding houses in the street with it. Only a crazy fool or a ruggedly-handsome, go-getting hero would do any more than 99 push-ups tomorrow…’
