Hello all you parent carers at the more extreme end of things :-)
We are talking rare chromosome conditions, feeding tubes, early surgeries or multiple surgeries, Downs syndrome, syndromes without a name, learning disabilities, suction tubes, regular medical procedures, no/low mobility, or anything else that makes you feel that you might well be at the more extreme end of things with your child, disability-wise. If you are unsure please don't hesitate to check, or just come along and try it for size and vibe!
If your child is over 5 but you still feel very lost in it all, please do come along - we aren't strict about ages.
This is a space for
-those of us who are finding ourselves part of a club that we never wanted to be part of (or never thought we did),
-those who are feeling like a bomb has gone off in their life
-those who are overwhelmed by the care-needs of their child
-those who feel isolated from main-stream parents or even their own extended family
-those whose hearts swing between hope and dread for their child's future
-those who want to feel a sense of belonging with a parent group who may well get it
We meet monthly, first Thursday of the month, 10-12 at St Annes house. Support with child care is provided in the same room if you book in advance.

'Navigation and Nurture allows much needed space to find solutions to practical issues and over complicated systems for disabled children. The Nurture element is a perfect monthly well being check in, as we travel on this emotional rollercoaster. The community of people who get it is vitally important too.'
