Back when I was in the thick of my own perimenopause mayhem & misery, I wish someone had told me the truth.

That the nights I lay awake until 4am with my heart racing weren’t just “a bit of stress”.

That the mornings I sobbed in the shower because I couldn’t face the day weren’t me “being dramatic”.

That the times I lost my temper so badly I scared myself weren’t proof I was a terrible person.

I wish someone had told me that the brain fog that left me staring at my laptop, unable to remember my own password, or even the second half of my post code!!!!! 😳 was my hormones hijacking my nervous system… not early-onset dementia.

I wish someone had told me that perimenopause could hit like a freight train in your 40s

even if your periods were still regular,
even if you’d always been “coping”,
even if you had no idea what was coming because nobody warned you!

Instead, I went looking for answers in the middle of the night, spiralling deeper into fear,
because no one had ever warned me this was part of it.

That’s why I created what I teach now.
So no woman has to spend another sleepless, panicked night thinking she’s losing her mind when there’s a way to calm her body, quiet her brain, and find her way back to herself.

Bottom line is this

Perimenopause does not mean feeling like sh*t for 7-10 years

When Amanda first came to me, she was at breaking point.
Anxiety before she’d even opened her eyes.
Brain fog so thick she was forgetting meetings, names, and whole conversations.
Rage that flared over the smallest things… and left her drowning in guilt afterwards.
And sleep? A couple of hours a night, if the wind was in the right direction and it wasn’t a full moon!

She told me,
“I’m exhausted from the inside out. I feel like I’ve lost the plot, and I don’t even recognise myself anymore. I can’t cope with feeling like this for yet another month”

In our first session, we made sense of it all.
Perimenopause.
What it does to your nervous system, your stress response, your emotions, your brain function.
Why none of this meant she was “weak” or “losing it”… and why she couldn’t just push through.

Over 4 weeks, we worked with targeted, evidence-based tools to calm her system and get her back into her own body again. She had audios between sessions, practical things to try in real life, and space to offload the things she couldn’t say anywhere else.

By the end of 30 days?

💛 Her morning anxiety was gone
💛 She was sleeping through the night 5 out of 7 nights
💛 The rage had dialled down to ‘manageable’ because she understood it & had tools!
💛 And she told me,
“I feel like I’ve got my brain, and my life, back”

After cleaning the whole damn house, doing the food shop, steam cleaning the sofa, cutting tree branches with Jack, and sweeping the deck… I noticed I was holding the broom, sweatily, heart racing…while looking longingly at my hammock.

Just sitting there. Looking all stripey, Sun-dappled, & inviting. Under the leafy canopy of our damson trees.

I noticed the thought: “I’ve earned a rest” pop into my mind

And I felt a sharp pang of regret.
And needling shame, that the programming of ‘needing to earn a rest’ still rears its ugly head sometimes.

And reminiscence.

Of feeling carefree (remember that?)
Of prioritising being present.
Of letting things be exactly as they are.

…and I walked over and got in the lovely hammock 🪄✨(even with thoughts of “you should be doing x,y,z)

Ahhhhhhh

I felt my body soften (hard not to in a hammock)
I felt my breathing slow
I felt a giggle skip through my heart
I felt myself reconnect to my body
…in that precise moment.

I felt GOOD. And allowed myself to recognise & soak in that felt sense of ‘good’

I noticed the judgy thoughts of “why don’t you do this more? - you don’t make best use of your resources - you stand in your own way..”

And let them be there. I imagined pouring a little drop of soothing balm onto my brittle inner-critic. And those thoughts faded off. As thoughts do when we let them.

So, I’m inviting you into my hammock with me. Today. Or to imagine getting into your own version of your hammock. And just being.

Even if it’s for 5 minutes. And see what you notice.
