Shell’s yoga journey started after feeling a need to find some space within a busy lifestyle running restaurants and events. It didn’t take long before yoga classes became a weekly sanctuary and she was quickly inspired to become a teacher with a vision to offer others the space she had found for herself. Shell trained in 2017 Vinyasa Flow and AcroVinyasa, and has been teaching both yoga and AcroYoga in Bristol since. Inspired by her love for acro, her vinyasa classes are a playful balance between yin and yang, offering a strong but steady, energising practice with space to stretch and observe the breath. You can find Shell happiest when she’s upside down either in yoga, acro or being tossed in the air with her love for standing acrobatics. A passionate hobby that has been pivotal in finding inner strength and overcoming fears, learning to trust herself and the ground beneath her, whatever that may be! She loves teaching acro for the simple joy it brings when her students trust each other and do things they never thought they could do. The global acro community is something like no other and Shell found a strong sense of self as she started to connect with the Bristol and Australian community on her travels. It was in Sydney she came across Yoga Beyond, who she did her teacher training with, a deliberate choice to have acroyoga teachers to influence her 200hr vinyasa training. Shell is a leader for the Bristol AcroYoga community and you can also find her happiest running supperclubs, yoga brunches and ‘Kutumba’ events and retreats. Kutumba, meaning family, is her latest project with co-teacher Seanie Louise bringing yoga, food, community and music to unique venues across the city. As a creative gem, Shell thrives in this environment combining all of her loves into heartwarming events spreading the love for the thing that make her glow. Based in Bristol, UK. Please PM for private sessions and more info on the Bristol Acro community.

✨ Beginners Handstand Courses in Bristol ✨

6 awesome weeks with these wonderful, dedicated humans!

What a journey it's been!! It's such a privilege to witness the progress and wins throughout this handstand course. I am so pleased and proud of everyone's journey.

Thank you for the amazing feedback 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

'Michelle’s handstand course was amazing. She’s a fantastic instructor with a great vibe, always supportive and encouraging, and just a genuinely great person. Her tips and technique were spot on, and the small wins along the way kept us motivated. By the end, we were all getting into handstands in our own way. Highly recommend!'

We all had a great time and were sad for it to end!!

Next course March 2025! And we'll be back at the amazing .uk ♥️🙃

✨Trust the process✨

We've all got our least favourite asana, perhaps you'll agree? For whatever reason, physical, mental or energetic it can be challenging to stay in a shape.

Puppy pose was always one of those for me. It felt awkward, uncomfortable (sometimes painful) and far too much work for something that seemed like it was meant to be relaxing. It was actually yin yoga that helped me enjoy this asana more, finding variations that were manageable either with a bolster or opening one shoulder at a time.

And then one day, perhaps in a yoga class we try it again, and 'Whhhhhhaaaaattttt? Hey! This aint so bad!' We are bemused and joyful that it was once the worst possible thing that somebody could ask us to do.

Recently I've been focusing on some new handstand drills for opening the thoracic area, my handstand push is improving and my shoulders are getting stronger from lifting weights. Reasons among many I'm sure that puppy pose is now a shape that I enjoy and frequently use to relax and open my shoulders and upper back.

A reminder to not push what doesn't feel good, perhaps there's another path to the same destination. Perhaps we don't know what that path is yet, but what we do know what doesn't feel right.

Only we know what it feels like to be inside our body and yoga and movement is the most amazing tool to connect and sharpen our intuition towards what may and may not be serving us. Physically, mentally and energetically.

This month I've been focusing training around handstands for hand to hand, an acrobatic skill of doing a handstand on another pair of hands! Which basically means rewinding a lot and moving into shapes that are mentally challenging and unfamiliar.

It feels like it's been a hot minute since the last monthly handstand session and I can't wait to train with you next week!

It feels pretty nuts that this is our 4th Summer retreat at the yurts, we've had such incredible and unique journeys with our community over the years and cannot wait to see what's in store for 2024!

I'll be in the kitchen! My happy place - serving food from my heart to yours, every dish an evolution and journey within itself.

The amazing Seanie Louise yoga will be teaching yoga for the weekend with some extra special workshops aimed to enlighten your inner wisdom and creativity - this year we have some art, which we are VERY excited to create together and capture the weekend on paper.

As always, we have an incredible special guest joining us on the Sunday evening to bathe us with her beautiful voice, giving space to decompress and digest the weekend, check out Mae Bird 🐦

We have hot tubs! Massage with Anzahata Yoga and Learn Botanics Herbal Medicine Clinic & Workshops and support from who's been retreating with us from day 1.

Hidden Valley Yurts & Lake House is where it's at! We loved this site last year - it holds us in such a unique tranquility, just 40minutes from Bristol, yet deeply submerged in nature, only accessible by foot or Mikes super cool buggy to drop us down with luggage!

An abundant weekend of food, gratitude, community, nurture and love. Cooking for at her first Wild Women retreat ♥️ . Another wild ride of a weekend! Thank you for having me 🙏🏻

A roller coaster of rolling hills... such a beautiful drive through the Brecons to Snowdonia and arriving at in a blustery storm that felt refreshing and cosy.

I've always wanted to spend more time in the countryside but I'm not very good at picking myself up and taking lone adventures so when I started cooking on retreats I realised perhaps this was nature's way of helping me find confidence and dipping the toes into some adventure!

Cooking on retreat is incredibly hard work, (especially when you have high expectations of your food!), there's usually a hero's journey, this time it was wondering if everything I'd planned for dinner was actually going to get to the table on Saturday evening! (It did).

But that hard work is met with love, and as the guests settle into dinner, any little stresses dissolve into knowing so deeply that I'm doing what I was set out on this Earth to do 🖤

I've always thrived on the busyness of hospitality, with favourite parts of my career being crazy long days with Summer long queues out the door, organising weddings, Christmas parties, Mothers days and the harbourside festival. Making coffee on snowday . These days I hold in my heart and will never forget but my body has asked me to balance in recent years and I have to take the joy in the buzz in small doses as I learn a new normal.

The evolution of all the things I've put my attention to feels divine and I look forward to so many more cooking adventures over the next year. Next up its working Christmas 🧄🍋 Bring it on!
