👀 Sneaky peek

Choosing equipment for our gym isn’t just about what looks good.

We’ve been thinking about how things are seen and used.

For some disabled children and young people, low contrast can make it harder to judge edges, depth, or where to sit, hold or transfer safely.

So where we can, we’re exploring black frames with warm beige padding.

It feels calm, but also helps shapes stand out more clearly.

As we’re working with different suppliers, not everything will match, but contrast and visibility are always part of the decision.

Because it’s these small details that make a space feel usable, or not 💜

Over the past few months, our Family Liaison Officer Lucy has been out in the community, joining coffee mornings and SENCO cluster groups 💜

These sessions are a great opportunity to connect with local schools and professionals and introduce Gympanzees Lending Library.

We want the Lending Library to be tried out and used, giving parents and professionals the chance to explore equipment, ask questions and feel confident borrowing for the first time.

Working with schools and community groups helps us get equipment into more hands and support more families.

📧If your organisation, school or community group would like Lucy to visit and share more, please email lucy@gympanzees.org

Less than a month to go until the Bristol Great Run 💜

If you’ve been running away from the idea… this is your sign to run towards it instead.

We need just 7 more people to get to a round 100 for Team Gympanzees. It’s not too late to lace up, sign up and let’s do this.

No judgement on pace, just good vibes and a very worthy finish line.

Drum roll for team QRoutes, who have joined us as our Dragon Boat Day sponsor 💜

They’re helping bring one of our most fun and high-energy fundraising days to life, as we keep pushing towards opening the Gympanzees Centre.

Sunday 5 July 2026 will mark our 3rd year, with teams out on the water at Baltic Wharf, racing, laughing, and raising funds to help create a space where disabled children, young people and their families can exercise, play and take part in a way that works for them.

QRoutes, thank you for getting behind this and being part of the journey with us 💜 It’s shaping up to be an unforgettable day.

Fancy jumping into your own Gympanzees dragon boat this summer? Bring your team, bring the energy, and come be part of it.

Today is National Siblings Day 💜

Being a sibling to a disabled person can mean so many things.

It can mean empathy, adaptability, and understanding beyond your years. It can also mean navigating a world that isn’t always set up for your family.

Siblings are a huge part of family life, and their experiences matter too.

That’s why the Gympanzees centre has been designed so siblings can stay active, play, spend time together, and share the same spaces, without barriers getting in the way.

Today, we’re celebrating siblings for everything they are, the support they give, and the unique role they play in their families.

A lifelong goal, shared 💜

This April, Sharon is taking on the London Marathon, something she’s always wanted to do, and she’s doing it alongside her friend, Annabel.

They’re running for Gympanzees, helping create a space where disabled children and young people can move, play and take part in ways that simply aren’t possible in most places.

What makes this even more powerful is the support behind it. Thanks to matched funding from Mortgage Advice Bureau Foundation, every donation is multiplied, turning each contribution into something much bigger.

It’s a simple idea, but the impact is huge.

Sharon and Annabel, we’re so grateful you’ve chosen to take this on together and to carry Gympanzees with you on such an important day.

If you’d like to support their run and help make that impact go further:

And if it’s got you thinking about doing something yourself, we’re in the final stretch to opening:

We’ll be cheering you both on every step of the way 🏃‍♀️💜

Some people just need to see Gympanzees once… and that’s it, they’re in.

One of our Fundraising Committee members visited a Pop Up, bumped into a friend and her child, and saw first-hand what it meant. That moment stuck. Now they’re helping bring the permanent centre to life.

Our Fundraising Committee is part of the engine behind this. People using their time, networks and energy to help get us over the line.

We’ve shared a few of their stories and what drives them.

On World Health Day, we’re reminded how much of health is talked about in terms of being active. But for many disabled children and young people, that isn’t a simple choice. It can mean finding somewhere accessible, with specialist kit, managing noise or crowds, and hoping the space will actually work.

Too often, it doesn’t. And over time, that means movement, play and even therapy become harder to access, not because families don’t want it, but because the world isn’t set up for them.

At Gympanzees, we see health differently. It’s not about pushing harder or doing more. It’s about creating the right environment so every child can move, play and take part in a way that works for them.

Because being healthy should include everyone.

Cycling over 300km in just three days, Andy and Brandon made their way from London to the Gympanzees Centre site in tough weather conditions, raising an incredible £2,227 along the way.

At the finish line, they were met with a surprise from family, friends and the Gympanzees team, the perfect ending to an epic challenge.

Legs of steel. Hearts of gold.

Absolutely phenomenal effort. Congratulations both 🚴‍♂️💜

190 miles. 3 days. One incredible challenge 💜

This week, Andy is setting off on an epic journey, cycling all the way from London to the future home of the Gympanzees in Aust, Bristol.

That’s 190 miles, powered by determination, a lot of pedalling, and a shared belief in what this centre will mean for disabled children, young people and their families.

And he’s already smashed his fundraising target. 🙌

Andy, we’re so grateful, not just for the miles you’re about to cover, but for choosing to stand behind us and help move our plans forward.

Because this is what gets us there. People showing up, backing the vision, and helping turn this from plans into something families can actually walk into.

We’re in the final stretch now, and every bit of support helps bring us closer to opening the doors.

🔗 Want to be part of it? Get involved here: https://bit.ly/3JVKC51

We’ll be cheering you on all the way, Andy 🚴‍♂️💜
