Euan and Neil found a common passion in their love of travel to remote parts of the world. They took this one step further by combining their passion with their careers. As experienced nurses working in travel health and public health Euan & Neil became frustrated with the poor quality e-learning available for health professionals. After leading the clinical education department of one of the UK’s

largest nurse and pharmacist clinic networks, they channeled their experience to create Health Academy. They wanted to create a new, fun place for learning with a variety of learning options to suite the goals of the individual practitioner. Our mission is to improve the learning experience of healthcare professionals. We don’t just want you to improve your knowledge and skills so you’re better and more fulfilled in your job!

The recently published “Fit for the Future: 10-Year Health Plan for England” outlines significant proposed changes for the National Health Service, with a particular focus on developments within primary care. For professionals working in this sector – including General Practitioners, practice nurses, practice managers, and administrative staff – this plan introduces a series of shifts that warrant careful consideration regarding their implementation and potential impact.

The plan’s objectives are centred on three core transitions:

1. From Hospital to Community: Decentralising Care
This aspect of the plan proposes a notable redistribution of healthcare resources, aiming to increase investment in services delivered outside traditional hospital settings. The strategy is to bring care closer to patients’ homes and alleviate pressure on acute hospital services.

Why Safeguarding Training Matters

Every professional working with children has a responsibility to protect them from harm. Whether you’re a teacher, teaching assistant, school administrator, volunteer, or support worker, you need the knowledge and confidence to recognise abuse and take the right action.

Training ensures that signs aren’t missed and children receive the support they need early. The Department for Education’s Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) statutory guidance places clear duties on staff to report and escalate concerns appropriately.

It’s no surprise to any healthcare worker that flu continues to be a serious issue across the UK. Between 2022 and 2024, there were more than 18,000 flu-related deaths, and NHS data shows that flu cases have flu cases have risen sharply in recent seasons, placing even more pressure on our already overstretched healthcare system. Winter pressures aren’t new, but the scale and intensity are increasing, with flu being one of the key contributors. Public awareness is a big part of the solution, but what often gets overlooked is how crucial it is for healthcare professionals to stay up to date with flu vaccination training. Being trained, confident, and current with the latest guidance can protect not only your patients but also your colleagues, your family, and yourself.

Why Flu Training is Important

The flu isn’t standing still. Each year brings different circulating strains and different groups at risk, which means each flu season comes with a new set of challenges. Some people may be doing flu training for the first time, while others might just need a refresher. Either way, keeping your skills and knowledge updated means you’re ready for whatever the season throws at you.

Training helps you recognise symptoms early, understand how flu spreads, and protect those most at risk. It also gives you insight into how flu co-infections with other viruses like COVID-19 can complicate patient care. Having the right knowledge can help reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and complications, which in turn eases the strain on local services.
