If you are aged 50 to 74 years you will be invited for bowel cancer screening every 2 years. You will be sent a bowel cancer screening home test kit with clear instructions on what to do.

We offer screening to try and find signs of bowel cancer at an early stage when there are no symptoms. This is when treatment can be more effective. Regular screening reduces your risk of getting and dying from bowel cancer.

Cervical screening only takes around five minutes and is the most effective and accurate way of finding out if youโ€™re more likely to develop cervical cancer. Anyone aged 25 to 64 whoโ€™s eligible for screening is invited for routine screening.

If you have concerns, there are lots of ways our GP Practices can support you, for example, you can ask for a double appointment if you think you need a bit longer or want to discuss the process with the clinician. You could even take a friend or relative along too, if youโ€™d prefer.

NHS Lanarkshire have produced this video highlighting the lived experience of Saffiya, whose life was saved by treatment for cervical cancer.
