I am looking forward to taking part in the Dying Matters Awareness Week event on Tuesday 29th April 2025, being held at UWE Bristol Glenside Campus library in Fishponds (see https://www.uwe.ac.uk/life/campus-and-facilities/glenside-campus/glenside-campus-map for location).

It was such a pleasure to be the celebrant for this funeral. As the man had been a keen sailor, we were able to bring this theme across the ceremony in words, music and action.

It took place at the beautiful New Forest Crematorium, with the funeral directors Coop Brockenhurst.

For all those who love cycling, do have a read of my first blog for 2025 ‘A wedding ceremony for cyclists’, written with you in mind.

It’s a little bit of fun, but for some people having their bike at their wedding could be a ‘must do’ as well as an ‘I do’. It could be wheely fun and obviously bespoke!

And if you are already married, there is always an opportunity for a renewal of vows (with or without bikes, cargo bikes, tandems).

A naming party is a lovely way to say hello and welcome a new baby or child into your family.

It’s more than saying their name.

You can make promises to your child about how you will help and support them through life.

You can invite your friends or family to be a guide-parent (like a godparent).
It can involve written messages of support or creating fingerprint art.

As your celebrant, I will help you create a naming ceremony that reflects who you are, your hopes and dreams for your child, and make it child friendly too.

And I know that ceremonies have to be flexible around the little ones, as I am a mum too.
