It is always a special moment to open a thank you card from a client. This one popped on to my door mat at the end of a particularly difficult week and brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for saying thank you. šŸ’•

What goes in to planning your wedding ceremony?

I spent a happy hour this morning over an excellent coffee at the Forge and Fern in Staple Hill creating a visualisation. Then my husband gave me the colour pencils at home!

As a celebrant I create the story of your love and future dreams through the use of words, music, and movement in your wedding space.

Your ceremony always is created with you and only for you.

It has been a difficult time living with the cancer story unfolding in our household. Knowing a good friend is going through the shock of the return has been sad too.

On World Cancer Day, let’s honour those we’ve lost, support those living with cancer, and raise awareness for better prevention and treatment options.

Selfcare Sunday sewing. I needed something to brighten this drear day.

Over the last couple of years I've been teaching myself embroidery flowers. It's all experimental and very organic in design. I pick it up and then leave it for months. Craft helps still my mind and gives me a sense of calm.

What are you doing today?

Two years ago today, we held my mum’s celebration of life at Divine Ceremony, Bristol. It was very much a bespoke event. Spiritual and creative.

Having taken the coffin club plus course with Coffin Club UK Match and Dispatch, I knew that a funeral could be something very different. An alternative funeral was befitting to mum.

I was delighted how Divine Ceremony - Undertaker and Funeral Partner enabled us to paint mum’s coffin at home, and to hold the ceremony in their Sanctuary.

We decorated the Santuary with mum’s textile pictures, and other crafts. Mum was given her own quiet room, allowing family and friends to spend time with her coffin.

Celebrant Rosalind Love, now part of the Divine team, told mum’s rather unusual life story, and guided us through the ceremony.

The ceremony was live streamed and filmed by Ben at BHWH Productions, who wove together images of mum’s decorative coffin with the ceremony and music. Elderly friends, who couldn’t travel, were pleased to be included.

Holding the ceremony in an alternative space reduced the time pressure of being in and out of the crematorium, and we had our refreshments at the same venue.

I am sharing this experience with you, for you to understand that there is a choice and you can do something different too, should you wish.

If you would like to discuss how I can help you create an alternative style celebration of life, please go to my Facebook bio and click on email to send me a message.

I hope you feel inspired.

January 2026 started with some winter sun and then back for a funeral with a journey over the bridge to Wales.

Actually, it was a celebration of a life full of adventure, family and community. A strong, resilient woman, an excellent facilitator, with faith in young people.

I was honoured to meet her school friend too. They had met in 1942 and remained in touch all these years. Amazing friendship.

These moments of connection give me joy. That's job satisfaction.

Yes, so do I! I'm already missing running along the sand with the sun rising over the sea.

Anyway, I'm back in the office now, and I've been finishing writing a script for a celebration of life while glancing out at the rain.

The woman, whose life we will be celebrating next week, was a traveller. She was lucky enough to have travelled to Spain, amongst other countries, when places like Benidorm were still little fishing villages. Every trip she went on she described it as the 'best ever holiday.'

Despite being in a dense tourist destination for the last week, it was still amazing to have some winter sun and practice a bit of my Spanish too. I'm definitely prepared for my Spanish lessons next week.

What has been your best ever holiday?

Happy New Year.

Hello to followers, friends and clients, old and new.

2026 is going to be an exciting year with weddings afoot.

The hardest part for me is the wait between getting the booking and getting started with putting the ceremony together.

I am so looking forward to hearing my clients' stories, discussing how to use the ceremony space, the music choices, and who will be involved.

Then there's the excitement of the big day and the glow of happiness from everyone.

It really is a joyous job to be doing.

If you are seeking a celebrant who weaves wedding dreams into wonderful words then get in touch.

I have some dates available for 2026 and more in 2027.

Go to my FB bio and click on email to get in touch with your wedding plans. I look forward to hearing from you.
