“Will you really be there for me?” At the core of most relationship struggles lies this vulnerable question. For many of us, the answer to that question feels uncertain, not because of a lack of love but because of deep, often unspoken fears rooted in past wounds.

We might become hyper-alert to rejection, read distance where none was intended, or lash out when we feel unseen. Or we might withdraw, fearing that expressing our needs will lead to conflict, disappointment, or shame.

"In EFT, we don’t pathologise these reactions. We view them as protective strategies, ways people attempt to stay safe when love begins to feel risky."

Find out how to reset these strategies to open the world of love to you on our blog...

Some words to take us all into the week - honouring the work we do to simultaneously hold grief and hope in both hands in the therapeutic and healing space, providing a gentle security to acknowledge what cannot be changed, and the possibility to envision what is ahead....

“Will we ever get back to how we used to be?”

It often begins quietly. The cuddles become less frequent. The kisses feel a little more like habit than passion. And slowly, intimacy, both emotional and physical, starts to fade.

For many couples, this drift occurs not because love is gone but because emotional safety has quietly slipped away. The path back to intimacy is not through performance or pressure; it’s through rebuilding vulnerability and connection.

Find your way back to each other with this brilliant blog from Thomas Westenholz - a counsellor at our Brighton and Hove centres....

"Exposed brick here." A classic The Practice Rooms moment with the builders in Angel recently - making sure our instructions are as clear as possible!

We love unpeeling the layers of a building to discover its heart and its history. Just like in therapy, once we go deeper, beautiful truths are discovered.

The life of a building - and indeed of the vintage furniture we furnish it with - is so important. They speak to the journey that is life, the lessons and loves picked up along the way, the scars, the changes, the growth. It is intentional that we choose buildings which have a story and a past.

We truly believe that the feeling of a space is important - it's the first thing we look for when choosing spaces, and it continues to be a priority. We even have a dedicated Reiki practitioner on the team who visits each centre to perform energy clearing in the rooms to ensure a harmonious and welcoming space for therapists and clients.

Our centre in Angel opens in just a week - on 30 September and you're welcome to visit anytime from 12pm to see the rooms, meet the practice manager and discuss membership.

Did you know we start every meeting at The Practice Rooms with a collective pause? Sometimes, for just a minute - no longer - we simply take a moment to land, to gather, and soften.

With the prevalence of Zoom and remote working, and busy schedules, it's easy to crash into meeting after meeting without drawing breath, gathering frenetic energy as you go.

This doesn't lend itself to gathering in any intentional or productive way; it simply stirs an already frantic pot. The benefit of 'taking a moment' has fundamentally changed the way we work together - and allowed spaciousness and openness into our discussions with our colleagues and clients.

So, take a rest between breaths today, if you can.

As a senior counsellor at SurvivorsUK, Michelle Buckberry knows how important it is to keep up the little rituals of taking time and care to prepare for each one of her clients.

"At a time in my career (and life) when caring for myself as well as my clients and family can be a challenge, I am refreshing how I prepare for my sessions and the little things I need to do to be there for my clients and colleagues."

"The perfect space for seeing clients." (Rose, therapist, Bath) Our original centre in Bath is still one of our most popular, and over the past few months we've been lovingly giving it a refresh - with new carpets and rugs, painting, updating some of the furniture and lighting, and adding more cosy comforts and unique touches throughout.

Practice manager Kat - a former clinical midwife and now licensed acupuncturist - says: "It's so good to see the centre evolving. I want everyone who comes here - therapists and their clients - to feel held and supported. This is pivotal work that supports our whole community."

We'd love to invite you to our Angel centre, which opens for viewings in just two weeks.

We have nine beautiful rooms available, as well as (a first for us!) a self-contained annexe which will be available on a full-time basis. If you'd like to visit and see the space, please contact practice manager Fiona - angel@thepracticerooms.co.uk - or just pop in on 30 September from 12pm.

Fiona is so looking forward to meeting you and sharing her love for this space with you: “This centre is more than just a place – it’s a community. My aim is to ensure every practitioner feels at ease here, knowing the space is cared for, so they can do the important work they’re here to do.”
