Inspirational stuff just after International womens day and before Mother's day

Putting a spring in your step.
Somehow we have skipped through February and landed in March. It feels like we have come out of hibernation and are being drawn outside. This is my favourite time of year for running. There is a touch of warmth, greenery and plenty of daylight which should be enough to get your mojo back. If that's not suffice, here are a few more motivators;
1.There are longer days to fit in more daylight runs.
2. It's not too hot or too cold - it's just right for a run.
3. You are boosting your Vitamin D levels.
4. Running routes have got a lot brighter, with a riot of colour to enjoy.
5. You get to wear your entire sports wardrobe in the form of shorts, layers, and water resistant tops, all in the space of a week or two.
6. You start to develop a healthy glow or even a tan line.
Finally, you might get to see a spring tide in action if you live by the coast !
Happy running folks.

Thursday Thoughts

Yeah – spring has sprung!
The stone of winter has rolled away, wings unfurl, daffodils sway and everything just seems a little lighter. The base layers and accessories have been banished to the winter drawer, and we no longer must steel ourselves against the needle rain and biting winds. It is easier to motivate ourselves, to lace up those trainers and head out into the reborn world.
When I was younger ,like many others, my motivation to start running was originally based on trying to lose weight. Often when we are younger, we run/train so we can have a sixpack or get a bigger b***y or a bigger chest. In other words, to look good. Now if that gets you out there, that is absolutely fine.
However, as an older runner I think it’s about looking at the bigger picture. The goals now are different. Run now to take the stairs easily: run now to walk for hours around unexplored cities: run now to play with kids/grandkids: run now to be able to sit to stand without help: run now to maintain posture: run now to be independent ; run now to give mental health an enormous boost: run now to connect socially. What generally happens is the aesthetics follows.
So really it’s not about years of life we have, it’s about the life in those years.
Happy Easter and happy running folks

So true and applies to our running also -

A little reminder that it's ok to walk on a run too because after all you're still moving forward. It all counts.

Sound advice for January- no need to put extra pressure on yourself- you are enough. Getting outside and enjoying the January stillness is a good start for the new year.
