Here at Woodpeckers, we’ve been joining in the fun with our very own mini Winter Games, bringing a little Olympic spirit and plenty of laughter to our residents 🏅

Our first Gardening Club of the year got underway recently 🌱

Residents met our new gardener, Amanda, and planted Cosmos and Sweet Pea seeds for a cut flower garden, filling over 30 pots. The session sparked lots of gardening memories and ideas for what to grow next!

We’re so excited to be supporting Foxie's Future as our 2026 Charity of the Year 💚

The charity offers activities, camping, residential stays, and experiences to young people and the local community at Foxlease Park.

We can’t wait to spend the year raising funds, learning more about their work, and making a difference together with our residents, team, and community.

A fun and energetic exercise session at Woodpeckers 💪

Residents joined in stretches and exercises with resistance bands, moving at their own pace and encouraging one another. Pat, Barbara, Di, and Anita were all smiles as they took part, enjoying the activity and the company.

Another session full of energy, laughter, and a real sense of achievement!

We were proud to recently present a cheque to Olivia Inspires, our 2025 Charity of the Year, following a year of fundraising at Woodpeckers.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of our residents, the support of families and friends, and the dedication of our team, we raised an incredible amount... and had a lot of fun along the way!

Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising activities and helped make this possible.

Woodpeckers enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating Burns Night 🥂

The night began with the bagpiper piping in the Haggis, followed by the traditional address of the Haggis with Robert Burns’ poem. Pat then performed the ceremonial stabbing, after which a blessing was said and a glass of whisky raised in tribute.

Alan stayed on to play the bagpipes during the delicious supper of Neeps and Tatties, chatting with residents and adding to the warm, memorable atmosphere.

It was a truly special evening, with conversations and laughter continuing well into the next day.

An afternoon of memories and laughter at Woodpeckers 📚✨

Alistair, the son of one of our residents, visited to share stories from his life as a Head Teacher. His talk sparked memories for Sybil, who shared a photo from her own time as a Head Teacher, and soon everyone was reminiscing about school days and teaching stories.

Residents chose their favourite blooms, shared stories, and had a laugh - it really was “flower therapy”! 💐

From our Meet the Reindeer event to performing with our New Forest sister homes at the St Thomas Church Christmas Tree Festival, this festive season has been full of magical moments.
