We are incredibly proud to be sponsors of yesterdays vital FGM conference, supporting the remarkable work being done to protect, empower, and uplift FGM survivors.
Seven months ago, we had the privilege of meeting the Mayor of Southwark. She shared her personal story—an experience of resilience, courage, and survival. It was a story that moved us deeply. Though we are not from an FGM-practising community, we knew instantly that this was not just her fight—it was a fight for dignity, for human rights, and for the future of countless young girls.
From that moment, we made a commitment: to stand with survivors, to support the organisations leading this work, and to ensure that the voices of those affected are never silenced.
Since then, we have proudly supported the Mayor in her role, not just in this conference but also in her ongoing monthly seminars, which raise awareness and drive meaningful action against FGM.
Yesterday it was inportant to OCO to emphasise something crucial: businesses have a role to play in causes like this.
Too often, social change is seen as the responsibility of governments, charities, and activists. But companies—whether big or small—have resources, networks, and platforms that can make a real difference. Supporting causes like this is not just about corporate responsibility; it strengthens the very communities we operate in. It builds trust, fosters deeper connections, and creates a workforce and society where everyone feels valued and protected.
We urge more businesses to step forward. To listen. To learn. To invest in change. Because when companies like ours get involved, we don’t just help survivors—we help shape a better, safer, and more just world.
We will continue standing with the Mayor, the organisations doing this vital work, and most importantly, with the survivors whose strength and courage inspire us all.
