4th February is World Cancer Day.

This day aims to raise awareness about cancer, promoting early detection, prevention, and treatment, and advocating for improved access to healthcare services for cancer patients.

It is without doubt one of the most emotive subjects in healthcare. Most of us will be affected by it and 1 in 2 will get cancer, so educating ourselves about symptoms and early detection is very important.

Osteopathy is a non-invasive, hands-on manual therapy that focuses on restoring balance in the body by improving movement, circulation, and promoting relaxation. While osteopaths do not treat cancer itself, they can provide relief from cancer-related symptoms and side effects of medical treatments.

Everyones cancer journey is different.

I use acupuncture and dry needling as part of my treatment sessions. Its fascinating and originates from ancient China, becoming popular in the West in the early 1970s when a journalist experienced the anaesthetic benefits and reported on it.

My patients have had some really good results when coupled with massage, exercise and lifestyle changes.

Back pain...80% of adults will experience back pain at some point in their lives.

Here are a couple of the movements I suggest my patients do to help move those joints and stretch the muscles in the back and relieve their pain.

If you sit at a desk or are on your feet all day you could easily pop a few of these into your day. If you struggle to kneel, pop a cushion under your knees. If you can't get down to the ground do them seated or put your hands on a wall and do the same movements.
