Similar conditions to my own clinic, just a lot more contacts in less time, alongside a lot of admin!

Also ran our first pelvic girdle pain group this week, which went really well and meant although in a group, the ladies had a lot longer with me to chat / ask questions etc.

"The advice...made a lot of sense more so than I'd had previously"

This is sadly a common conversation I have in clinic. To me this speaks volumes about how little explanation women are given about their health.

It's not good enough and I'll keep shouting about it.

If you're ready to have a different conversation, my door is open and there's a slot in the January with your name on it 🄰

I often get asked about my boys smoothies - so here is a typical one they have, most days.

Sometimes I might sneak in some extra salad bits like cucumber or avocado if they’re handy. In fact I did here but my slicing skills looked highly unsafe so i cut it out šŸ˜†

They have it with their breakfast or as a starter (whilst I’m having my morning coffee)

Let me know what you think and on a serious note, how do you say kefir?!

It’s been a minute….cue 6 weeks of not going to the gym/ hyrox due to illness. Not ill that I was in bed, but just not able to exercise.

Now it’s 6 weeks until my first hyrox competition (there I said it which means it’s happening)…. Today was the first day I actually tested my cardio.

Opted for v02 max training to try and boost my system. There’s lots of evidence this type of training is good for longevity. But honestly i used needed to do something!

The principle is 30 secs max effort (like really go for it) then recover until heart rate is back down. Repeat 4-5 times.

Sounds easy but its gross 🤢
I chose the ski erg and it doesn’t irritate my knee which I’m trying to avoid annoying at this point.

Pelvic health physiotherapy is SO much more than pelvic floor squeezes! Here’s what I saw in my Her Physio clinic this week.

Each appointment is around an hour, so it’s never rushed (I don’t like being rushed either!).

Often when ladies arrive they haven’t been given the time to explain fully what’s going on. You get that here, always 🄰

Looking for my number 1 thing that I think everybody who šŸ’© needs for Christmas??

It is of course the humble squatty potty!!!

We want our knees to be higher than our hips for the optimal position for your back passage AND so your puborectalis (part of pelvic floor) relax for that perfect pay out (šŸ’©)

And a squatty potty is FOR LIFE not just for those having a baby. I live in a house of boys and we all use it!

We use one that collapses now, perfect for travel! Let me know if you want a link šŸ™

Thank you for this lovely feedback.

So many people arrive expecting a checklist, or one ā€œcorrectā€ exercise (usually lots of squeezes!)

But pelvic health doesn’t work like that.

There are often multiple ways we can support your body and the right approach is the one that fits you, your symptoms and your life.

Support shouldn’t feel overwhelming.

It should feel confidence-building.

If you’re looking for guidance that’s personal, practical, and supportive, my door is open 🄰

I’m sorry that your previous appointments made you feel rushed or dismissed.

I’m not sorry that here…
you’re listened to, assessed properly, and supported with a clear plan.
That’s my baseline & you’re so welcome here 🄰

A lady said to me recently, ā€œI haven’t got back to running because I’m lazy.ā€

It stayed with me. How sad is it that we feel it’s ok to call ourselves names?

We’d never say that to a friend juggling a million things,,so why do we do it to ourselves?

The more I work in women’s health, and the more I navigate my own journey as a mum of two, the more I realise that the most important part of my work is helping women be kind to themselves.

We owe it to our bodies, and our minds, to treat ourselves with care.

Because women’s health is so much more than a few pelvic floor squeezes.… it’s about compassion, understanding, and feeling supported in your own skin.
