Happy Winter Solstice!
I was debating with myself last night whether to meet it at Dragon Hill or brave the parking uncertainty and chance it at Avebury.
Just before I went to bed I put on an audio book by Freddy Silva "Portals" and to my astonishment within first 5 min I am hearing something like this: "At Dagon Hill in Uffington most potent energy is released at winter solstice. It is so strong so sometimes people behave out of the ordinary." Guess where I went this morning before dawn :)
This pick of serene amethyst sky was taken at sunrise. The wind was blowing so hard I was not sure if I was going to make it up the steps, but I trusted the place and moved slowly up.
For sometime I was there along, presumably, most people went to the White Horse. I had to sit down not to be blown off. Though I was present and conscious of the wind ripping the place apart, I had an incredible sense of peace and calm inside me. Somehow the survival mode was on pose. I decided to trust the land - if it will not let me in this time there is always the next.
Then the group of people came. Two women of my age and a gent of sizeable statue with an impressive staff made of wood with some carvings. The party was totally lovely and we soon were exchanging greetings.
When it was the time, we didn't see the sun but we knew it was up, I suggested to sing something and one of the women made an attempt of making something up, it was so good that we started to dance, clasping our hands and, bursting with laughter, went in a merry round.
We hugged, we told each other our first names and agreed to come back in summer. The wind was blowing - we imitated the crows with our arms stretched out like wings, somehow it was easier to remain upright in the gusts, pretending to fly.
Soon we said our goodbye and I shamefully went crawling down the steps, practically on my behind, as I never was good at going downhill.
When finally I was on more or less even ground heading to the car I felt so elated. "What was it that Freddie Silva said about people behaving unconventionally on the top of the Dragon Hill at winter solstice?", I thought... :)
