13 months ago, Yolanda came to me feeling disconnected from herself.

A busy self-employed woman in her early 50s navigating peri-menopause, she felt stuck, low on energy and no longer recognised the strong, active woman she used to be.

In her 20s she was:
Strong.
Fit.
Active.
The type of woman who thought nothing of hauling rocks around the garden 😅

But after pregnancy, years of juggling life and then peri-menopause, her confidence in her body slowly disappeared.

So instead of fighting against her body…we started working WITH it.

By syncing her training with her energy levels and Moon cycle, Yolanda rebuilt her strength, confidence and power in a way that actually felt sustainable 💫

When we first started, even functional exercises with mini dumbbells and wrist weights felt challenging.

Now?

✨ She has a full dumbbell collection at home
✨ Her 12kg kettlebell no longer feels heavy — even on REBALANCE days
✨ I’ve had to buy heavier weights for her SUPERWOMAN sessions
✨ Her power, balance and stability are incredible
✨ And this July she’s part of my Deadly Dozen relay team — something she never would have imagined a year ago 💪

When Denise first came to me 7 months ago, she was determined not to let “getting older” mean slowing down.

A retired lady in her 60s with a huge zest for life, Denise had always been active….gym classes, hobbies, running, amateur dramatics, holidays, golf… she loved keeping busy.

But over the last few years, her body had started fighting back.

Painful knees meant she was told to stop running.
Shoulder pain and reduced mobility forced her to give up golf too.

It felt like age was trying to put her in the “sit quietly and slow down” category.

Denise had other ideas 😏

Together, we completely changed the way she trained….syncing her workouts with her energy levels and the Moon Cycle.

✨ lifting heavy on SUPERWOMAN days
✨ Stability and balance work during REBALANCE
✨ Pulse-raising HIIT leaving her buzzing in IGNITE

Even when Denise injured her hand and couldn’t hold a dumbbell, she didn’t stop.

Was it really worth it?

Reason 7… ACHIEVEMENT 💀👊
dozen DONE 🎉

We went in with a goal…..1hr20.
In truth, we would’ve been happy with anything under 1:30.

But we didn’t just hit it…
we SMASHED it.

And that’s what happens when all the reasons come together 🎉

The community.
The accountability.
The focus.
The confidence.
The people beside you pushing when it gets hard.
The thought of who you’re doing it for.

Every single one of those carried me through.

In the tough moments, it wasn’t just about me, it was about us.
About not letting each other quit.
About knowing what this meant.
About keeping each other going (although that last 400m nearly killed me when someone hit their “sprint” button!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

This isn’t the end.
It’s just the beginning.

Why oh why oh why?!?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

IT’S GAME DAYDeadly Dozen.dozen here we come.

Reason 6… CONFIDENCE.

Not the loud, look-at-me kind.
The quiet kind.

The kind that comes from knowing you’ve done the work.
The training.
The nutrition.
The early mornings.
The late evenings.
The hard days.

And now… it’s time to put it into practice.

Showing up as the best version of me, right now. 💪💪

Even in my “rebalance” phase, when technically I should be taking it easier…I know I’ll give this everything I’ve got.

And that’s enough.

Because confidence isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about trusting yourself.
Backing yourself.
And walking in knowing you are prepared.

Day 6–1 day countdown… it’s here. dozen tomorrow 👊🔥

And this is another reason why I do this…

The anticipation.
The excitement.
That feeling building as you get closer to something you’ve worked for.

And and I are ready to go!!! 💪💪

It’s not nerves in a negative way… it’s energy.
It’s knowing you’ve shown up, put the work in, and now you get to see what you’re capable of.

That buzz.

That “let’s go” feeling.

Because it’s not just about the event itself; it’s about everything it took to get here.

What keeps you showing up?
7 days to go… one week until .dozen

And this is reason number 4…I do this for them💜🩵🩷

To be a role model.
To give them what I didn’t have growing up.

The knowledge.The habits.
The understanding of what looking after your body actually means, in a positive, empowering way. 💪

Not punishment. Not pressure. Not body battles.

But strength. Confidence. Energy.

I want them to grow up wanting to be active, not stuck behind screens.
To feel strong, independent, powerful.
To be visible. To take up space.

And maybe… just maybe… I know I’m doing something right when one of them chooses to be “Mini-Mumma” for their school careers dress-up day 💜

I love that they’re already living it.

They train with me.
They write little programmes and circuits for us to do together.
I’m usually the one telling them to switch OFF because they’d go all day otherwise.

This is how we change the cycle.

And it’s exactly what we do inside the Aligned Body Collective; helping women build habits that actually serve them, and let go of the ones that don’t.

Because when you change your habits…you change everything.

8 days to go until .dozen

It’s been a week of resting and recovering because my body was saying “enough”, which has been hard. But has lead to reason number 3 👊

Why do I do this?

Focus. Goals. Direction.

Having something to aim for changes everything.

It keeps me motivated on the days I don’t feel like it.
It keeps me driven to be better, fitter, stronger.
It keeps me showing up, even when it would be easier not to.

And along the way?
It’s the progress you don’t expect which bring even more joy, fulfilment and confidence.
Better times. Stronger lifts. A few PBs dropping in 👊
And I’m a bit of a sucker for a medal/patch! 🏅

Because when you have a clear goal, your energy shifts.
Your actions become more intentional.

And this is exactly what we do inside the Aligned Body Collective.

We help women get clear on what they actually want, not just “lose weight” or “get fitter”

But real, meaningful goals that give them direction, purpose, and something to work towards.

Staying in bed is easier right?!

11 days to go until .dozen and this is reason number 2 of why I do this👊

The people.

Training alongside others who have similar goals.
Who get it.
Who show up, even on the days when they’d rather be anywhere else….especially at 4:25am and it is the only way to get a workout out in today?!

Because let’s be real… those are the days that matter most.

It’s the accountability.
Knowing someone’s expecting you.
Knowing you’re not in it alone.

It’s the push to be better, not in a competitive way, but in a “we rise together” kind of way.

It’s the encouragement mid-session.
The check-ins between sets.
The support that goes beyond just the physical, the support that really matters.

12 days to go… nearly there .dozen 👊

And it’s got me thinking again… why do I do this?

It’s not just about the challenge.
Not just about getting fitter or “StrongHER”.

It’s about being part of something.

The community.
The atmosphere.
The shared energy, whether that’s training side by side, taking on challenges together, or even being part of the judging crew and soaking it all in from another angle.

It’s the people that make it.

The laughs between sets.
The encouragement.
The buzz of everyone pushing in the same direction.

That feeling of belonging to something bigger than just your own session.

Are you slowing down?!

Day 13 countdown to Deadly Dozen… and today hit differently 👊

A change of scenery, still a gym, but this time it was opposite my old college.

This was a place where I was at my biggest, my most unfit, and honestly not the best version of myself.

Looking at it now made me think about how far I’ve come… and where I’m going next.

Because recently I’ve been asked about things like walking football, walking hockey, “age-appropriate” ways to stay active…

And don’t get me wrong, they absolutely have their place and have done wonders for so many people who thought their favourite hobbies were out of reach.

But it made me realise… that’s not my path.

I’m stronger now than I’ve ever been.
Fitter than I was even when I ran the London Marathon 12 years ago.
And instead of slowing down… I’m looking for the next challenge, not the last one.

And THIS is exactly what we stand for inside the Aligned Body Collective.

Age is not a barrier.
It’s never too late to start.
And you don’t have to settle for “less” just because of a number.

Women stepping into their strongest, most capable selves, at any stage of life.

This is just the beginning 👊

Love being a part of this community

Choosing to judge an event two years ago definitely gave me that push I needed to know I could not only judge well, but also get on the competition floor and compete too.
Being back at the Finals last week reaffirmed this and gave me the kick up the backside to get back into training and start facing 2026 with heart pounding, chest high, muscles out 💪🏻

It’s a great event. Even better people 🫶
And have loved witnessing the growth of ready to take on the world…watch out 2026!! 💪🏻
