Are you deaf, hard of hearing or a heavy sleeper? You might want to consider an alternative to your standard smoke alarm.

If you are deaf, hard of hearing, or even just a heavy sleeper, a standard smoke alarm may not wake you.

You should consider a strobe light and vibrating-pad alarm system to alert you in the event of a fire.

We also offer free home fire safety checks across Lancashire.

Deaf people or those with reduced sensory function are likely to receive a personal visit from our community fire safety team.

If you don’t meet the criteria for a home visit, you’ll still receive personalised advice to help keep you safe.

From the 1st July 2025, the childhood vaccination programme changed.

👶 The meningococcal B vaccine, previously offered at 8 and 16 weeks will now be offered at 8 and 12 weeks of age

👶 The pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) previously offered at 12 weeks of age is now offered at 16 weeks of age

Today, the NHS released a new national policy regarding the availability of weight loss injections.

However, currently there has been no decision made on whether GPs in Lancashire & South Cumbria will be commissioned to prescribe these medications.

Please DO NOT contact your GP requesting this medication or for further information as we won’t be able to assist.

Please see information below from Burscough Library around an event to celebrate Autism acceptance month for children aged 4-8 years.

Join us as we read 'Pablo's Feeling's'. A story about a boy with autism who sees the world in a different way. Together, with his friends the Book Animals, he learns how to let people know what he is thinking when his face won't show what he is feeling.

After the story, we'll practice drawing different expressions before making our own self-portraits showing how we feel on the inside.

This event is best suited to families with children aged 4-8.
