Deep in the heart of Thetford Forest, little explorers set out on a nature hunt... pockets filling with leaves, sticks, and woodland treasures. We paused for lunch beneath the canopy and gathered close to share The Gruffalo’s Child, a story that felt right at home among the towering trees. 🌲✨

Moments like these are more than adventures. They are opportunities for children to:

🌿 Strengthen their bodies through climbing, walking, and exploring.
🌿 Calm their minds with fresh air and the rhythms of nature.

At The Kookaburra’s Nest, our vision is to provide the very best start in life by creating a challenging, inspiring and nature-rich environment where every child can flourish. We also believe in caring for the whole family... Offering a fully inclusive service that provides nutritious meals, nappies and wipes, as well as open communication and consistency between home and nursery.

We describe ourselves as a boutique nursery because we are intentionally small and personal. Unlike larger, busier settings, we offer a warm, home-from-home environment where every detail is thoughtfully considered; from our curriculum design and room layout to the food on children’s plates. This means each child receives the highest quality of care, attention and opportunity to thrive.

Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed in line with the EYFS and built around children’s interests, individual needs, and next steps. Drawing on Montessori, Reggio Emilia and curiosity-based approaches, we provide rich, hands-on experiences that spark imagination, build resilience, and prepare children with the skills they need for school and for life.

We keep small ratios, ensuring every child feels secure and known as an individual.

Children enjoy daily outdoor learning in our mud kitchen, sand and water areas, and through regular adventures in our community; from woodland walks to farm visits, markets, libraries and museums.

Our in-house chef Nic provides healthy, balanced, home-cooked meals, introducing children to a wide variety of nutritious foods.

We are committed to safeguarding, and children’s well-being is at the heart of everything we do.
