The Plants Around Us Ep3: Melissa off. or Lemon balm can help to elevate your mood and ease anxiety as well as improving memory and concentration. It also assists digestion and absorption by stimulating the flow of digestive enzymes. It can help to ease spasms in the digestive, respiratory and reproductive tracts and curb nausea. Lemon balm is also antiviral and can be used against Herpes simplex. If anyone is prone to cold sores I make a lovely lip balm using oil I make from the plants in my garden. It can also assist with hyperthyroidism as it has a thyroid inhibitory effect so best for people with hypothyroidism to avoid. Lastly lovely Lemon balm can help to ease the symptoms of hayfever and allergic rhinitis as it is an anti-histamine. 🌱

The Plants Around Us Ep 2:
Bellis perennis (daisy), also known as ‘Bruisewort’ due to its wound healing properties. Great for cuts, bruises and burns as well as slow-healing wounds such as leg ulcers. It is anti-inflammatory and astringent so can be good internally and externally for wet wounds. It is also used for helping to expel mucous and relieve coughs. Take as a tea or infuse clean flowers in mild olive oil for at least 4 weeks on a sunny windowsill. You can use the strained oil on its own or make into a lotion or balm. 🌱

The Plants Around Us ep 1:
A snapshot of the grass in our local park. Not a hard found spot, just the plants under my feet whilst walking the dog. Featuring Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow), enhances digestion and circulation, antihistamine, a diuretic and wound healer, Plantago lanceolata (Ribwort Plantain) soothes irritation in digestive tract and reduces spasms, reduces congestion in colds, hay fever and asthma, contains tannins which are useful in excessive menstrual bleeding, anti microbial for UTIs and excellent topically for easing stings, cuts and insect bites. And lastly Taraxacum off. (Dandelion) a bitter digestive and liver tonic, a potassium giving diuretic, anti-inflammatory and useful for arthritis. Amazing nature!! 🌱

Did you know that 80% of the world still use herbal medicine. Herbs are said to have side benefits instead of side effects. Often when a body is suffering there are several aspects to take into consideration, a full holistic consultation will take this into account to get to the bottom of the root cause.
