Archie Fletcher takes race 2 at Colne tonight on his new Novel wheels. Maxwell Hereward got a flat.....but looked crazy fast until that point.

Really enjoyed watching boys, see you Sunday!

Ok so anyone who rides with 360 or attends our development sessions at tameside will know both Libby and Natty very well.
Both youth C riders who love to race.
Both making the GC podium over 3 days of racing last weekend.
Natty had the ride of his life on all 3 stages.
Brilliant TT
Brilliant hilly stage
Brilliant crit / sprint stage
He has worked hard for this and seeing him delivering was truly inspiring

Libby,
Great TT
The hilly stage....may well be the best ride of the weekend by any rider.
Lap one she attacked on the climb and opened a gap straight away, but on the back section of the course she dropped her chain and lost around 60s to the lead group.
Now normally at this level, that's game over or a kid breaking down and losing the will to fight.
However Libby is made of something else.
She set off over the next 3 laps with one goal "to catch the leaders"
With a lap to go she made the junction with what was the solo leader at this point.
They rode the last lap together and close to the end, Libby just started to feel the effects of her chase coming over a very close 2nd place.
The sprint stage she finished with the leaders to hold onto 2nd place on GC.

Working with both these two kids over the last 12 months has been an absolute pleasure and we hope to be working with them for a long time to come.

Natty now moves his focus to some CX and hill climbs
Libby moves to Shibden for the CX season,, but if it fits in with CX we will look to have her on the Rake early October

Either way you will see both these kids work with us all winter at tameside and some track.

A credit to the colours you both are!

A small but significant step forward in the process of a north west based female team on Saturday in Lancaster.

New girl Robin (and new to bike racing) got to meet Evie and Ella. Kate got a chance to get them working together and getting a feeling of how to use a team.
Missing the big hitters Amerlie, Jess and Ruby but still a really good chance to meet and race together.

Good for Kate to also meet the girls in a new situation.

Joe came over during and after (while also supporting the kids in Morecambe). He likes what he could see, a fair bit of passion and will to learn and work together.

Still very early days, but we strongly believe that next year this group of girls will be raising eyebrows

2nd on GC for the fantastic Miss Green. Coached rider Sirri looked top draw all weekend and to finish 2nd on GC as a first year youth B is pretty incredible.

Even more remarkable as this year and much of the winter has been hit with illness and lingering poor O2 levels in the blood. This often happens after bouts of illness and I am still not sure we are 100% right as recovery is still a little slow by her own standards.

But it must be said, she has sacrificed a lot of racing this year and made every effort to get the right training done.

Mum giving her full support in bringing her to training sessions.

We knew 2 weeks ago that things had really started to click with a quite outstanding group ride, in fact if Ruby had not been out the same day and also riding well, miss Green would have the Kom on Blackstone edge.

Her efforts in training have been 100%, enjoying the set work and the group work. It's included some slightly odd methods at times, but that's how it works when you look at the science and try to make it fun.

As always this weekend she has (even if not in 360 kit) been an integral part of the team, she adds a great dynamic to the full group and has been brilliant to have around.

A great example of what can be done when you have a set goal and you train 100% for it!

Soo these will keep coming but next up.....Miss Clegg you went with a plan and my word very close to pulling it off.

Phina is a great example of trying to win at all costs, no half measured effort, just all in.
She does have a very very good natural engine and if given the chance to ride at her pace or to her tune she can be quite formidable.

It's not easy for a kid growing up, training and doing just about every type of time riding you can (it does at times drive her coach crazy 🤣) but we like that.

Today she raced smart and controlled, felt the race and studied the best place and time to attack.
Then when it seemed right to do so.....hit it with all she had!

6 laps solo off the front, pushing out to just over 30s at one point she flowed like a smooth aero missile.

Normally things like this are short lived but today jaws dropped as the gap kept going out.

The group did not ever really stop working and eventually she was bought back, but fair play Phina if you keep hitting them like that you will only get better and better.

Really really proud to see such a brave and committed move.

Ok so loads to report on this weekend, so first up the junior boys at the tour of Wales.
It was never going to be easy as some of the prep has not been the best.
Tom started but with illness and holidays....it was always going to be a big ask, but fair play for getting as far as he did.
Davey had an argument with a golf club 5 days before resulting in a very large gash to the head ....he did well to make the startline. That said he did what he could and made it to stage 3.
Charlie a long time out of racing, just coming back to it, progressively got better and better over the weekend.
It was key he got round each stage and in places had to go very deep to do so, but by today.....you could see some of his old racing confidence come back. Solid all the way round today, always in the race and completed the tour in a very respectable 52nd place.
Alex ....well he raced super hard all weekend, lost a lot of time in the TT...still amazing how bad he can be at them 🤣 but ride a bike at high watts ....he can do that. Making up some time from the TT to finish 45th.

Ok so Harper......hmmm he loves a breakaway. Solid on stage one, solid in the TT and solid on stage 3. He saved his big effort for the last stage (4), getting into a group of 7 that at one point had 5min lead on the field.

The last couple of weeks has seen him crack on the final stage/s of races or just run out of juice. But this weekend he paced things much better.
He has done his endurance work in the week (thanks Xav) and today he showed what he is capable of, coming home in 7th place close to 2 min in front of the next rider and moving up to 7th overall!

7th at the tour of Wales is a great result, but as a first year junior.....it's really very very good.

The full team should be very pleased with the weekend and that includes the management. It's the first time our junior team has had car support and with riding like this...it's an easy decision to support them.

We love the fact that the boys all live near each other and train together, Alex....has 1 / 2 races as a junior before joining the u23 team.
Alex will 100% be ready for it too only strengthening the team.

Davey, Charlie, Tom.and Harper join the base of the junior team for next year with a real focus on being at the Sharp end of things.

Top work lads

Some outstanding rides today by loads of the kids and it's very very hard to pick my favourite bit we will save the girls for another post.

But I do want to say how lucky we are to have this boy on our team!

Good enough for 2nd today on the queen stage and sits 3rd on GC.

23/08/2025

He won't think it anything special as he has his sights set higher, but we have a new North West Crit champion..... John Bardsley
This season has been very very hard for John, a solid winters work should have left him 100% race ready, but from late February and into early March he started to suffer from chronic fatigue.

All cyclists suffer from levels of fatigue, it kind of goes with the territory in many ways. But it is something we should look for and avoid.

When it becomes Chronic.....the body does not want to come out of the fatigued state. Often sparked by underlying infections it has a negative effect on many things, but lower red blood cell levels and the ability to absorb nutrients can be affected.

It was a really hard call back in April to make. JB would need to take some set time away from exercise. The normal prescription would be 3-6 months, but between us we felt we had acted early and decided 3-4 weeks ...then start back slow and track his key metrics.
Joe (head coach) gave him some work (working for him), with the key aim being to help JB gain some other experience, pocket some money and not be sat around thinking about the training he was missing.

It also gave Joe the chance to communicate with JB on a regular basis.

After 3 weeks we started back, firstly riding to and from work easy, so we could keep the regular contact. Slowly increasing the workload each week. It's also fair to say the first few weeks were slow going.

After 5 weeks we sent him racing in France (well undercooked) but he understood it was a key part of recovery.

It also proved as a bit of a test to see if he could avoid taking a backward step. Race one he was ok for 60min but then felt the pace and backed off, got round and started the next day.

Day 2 he got to around halfway, but looking at his metrics we could tell it was a lack of race fitness and not fatigue.

A week of specific training, another 3 day race (he got to day 2) and then a town GP on the last day....he gets round and we know the trip for him has been progressive.

He comes home and we review things a little more, he has improved but things are once again starting to stall so we really look into the potential issues and why things are slowing down.

Now some of this stuff is way too critical to give away on here for free, but together we looked to educate and talk through the next part of the process and how to react.

Roll on 4 more weeks and JB has taken 2nd on GC at a NAT B stage race, completed another 3 day race. Done a sub 20min 10tt on a road bike. Got round a 113 mile NAT A and continued to progress.

He has started once again to dominate crit races and today he beats a pretty good field to become North West champ 🏆

A fair bit of racing still to come for JB and we can see a really big result in the legs now.

The main thing we should all take from John's season is, work and talk with your coach, look to really make the hard calls and never let the head go. Simply plan and reset things then go again with a plan that makes sense.

Top work big fella!

Another big step forward with the bike project. The latest bike comes with the upgraded and possibly industry changing no ni**le carbon spokes combined with a Titanium top hat connection system that saves weight, actually adds strength and improves corrosion resistance.
The wheel set up is Nepest Nova 45mm front and 55mm rear and comes in comfortably under 1.2kg.
Available directly in the UK from 360cycling.
This is a key factor as you get to deal with people in the UK adding reassurance should anything go wrong.
The rest of this bike is kitted out with the latest Ultegra 12 speed DI2 system and comes with the only tyre anyone should use Continental GP5000 tyres.
It comes in at 7.2kg in a size 50 frame without pedals.
Wheel type, depth, frame colours, bars and gear system can be 100% bespoke design. If interested, it's well worth contacting 360 to see what they could offer you for 2026.
We have one more further step to make in the full design that we are calling project 6.9kg, expected to be available for testing from early September.
