Super excited to present... the Wye Valley Dance and Wellbeing digital directory! It has been a joy these past few months to gather information on all of the amazing individuals and companies in the Wye Valley, offering services designed to make you look and feel good, inside and out.

Iโ€™m also acutely aware of how challenging it can be to wear so many hats as a small business, and the more time concentrated on your craft, instead of PR & Marketing, the better.

Life can be tough for us all at times, and self-care is so important; knowing where to go when you need somebody to talk to, and knowing what groups and activities exist, to bring us together when life can feel so isolating is crucial.

This directory is to help residents and visitors to the stunning Wye Valley know what is available to them, whilst helping our local businesses raise awareness, gain clients and sustain their business long-term.

As a local resident I have witnessed many social media posts crying out for information on where to go for anything from a manicure to a walking group, cleaner or a martial arts class, and have felt compelled to make it easier for those searching, and for those offering. I am also working on a directory for homes (DIY, Construction & Garden), as well as directories for legal, financial, holiday homes, childcare, entertainment and car care; these will be with you imminently, but please contact me to ensure inclusion.

I have included many local businesses in the directory, but please contact me if you are not listed and are in the Wye Valley or immediate catchment area, and I will have you added in no-time, you only pay if you choose to take advertising space in addition to your free listing. Enjoy reading and get something in the diary, you deserve it!

Forget the treadmill, if you want to beat depression, just dance. Thatโ€™s the message from a landmark Australian study analyzing data from 218 trials and over 14,000 people. Researchers found that while any kind of exercise helps, dancing delivered the biggest and most consistent drop in depressive symptoms, outperforming walking, jogging, yoga, tai chi, strength training, and even standard medical treatments like antidepressants or talk therapy.

Why is dancing so powerful? Experts say itโ€™s the perfect combination of movement, music, and emotional expression. Dancing engages the mind as much as the body, releases feel-good neurotransmitters, and often includes a social component, whether youโ€™re sharing a dance floor or just moving at home. This unique blend helps break cycles of negative thinking, boosts mindfulness, and offers an emotional release few other activities can match.

The best part: you donโ€™t have to be a professional or even leave your house to reap the rewards. Whether you dance alone in your living room or join a group class, this joyful movement is one of the most accessible and effective mental health tools science has uncovered. Next time youโ€™re feeling low, turn up the music, your brain and body will thank you.

A new study reveals that dancing is one of the best forms of treatment for depression. Yes, even better than medication.

โ€œItโ€™s not that exercise beats out SSRIs for depression treatment, but that *just* dancing has the largest effect of *any treatment* for depression. Thatโ€™s kind of beautiful,โ€ scientist and author Erik Hoel wrote of the work.

For this measure, which was published in BMJ, a small effect is considered 0.2 to

Ta**ra

I had a conversation with a family member on Saturday. We talked about the harm of mobile phones and the imminent changes to help protect our children, but I cannot help that feel that we are once again putting a sticking plaster on a problem instead of really working on the perpetrators.

Just as we are told as women how not to dress if we do not want to send out a certain message.

It really is quite simple, dressing to look or feel sexy does not equals consent, nor does a drunken snog. Please watch Desperate Lies on Netflix to understand what isn't consent.

Whilst we need to call out bullies and scammers to prevent online harm, we also need to call out perpetrators of harmful s3xual content. We need to help our children understand that what they may see with p**n does not represent a healthy s3xual interaction and certainly does not = a happy partner in a relationship.

But yet we are so closed and shy when it comes to letting them know about the alternatives. The better way to be with a partner, the true joy of intimacy and connection.

Perhaps if we share more content like this https://templeoftantricarts.com/conscious-intimacy

We can nutralize what is so prevalent and offer alternative brain food for existing and future generations.

The time spent with a partner should be the safest and most pleasurable space in the world, let us help future generations (and existing) understand this.

I may run another event next year to talk about wellbeing in every sense of the word. We have a duty of care and removing access to the internet isn't where it ends.

I hope they lock Huw up and throw away the key! At 12:30 we will learn who is looking out for children and who isn't.

This retreat is an 8-days residential program with a focus on conscious Intimacy, Sexuality and Love for men, women, non-binary folks, couples and singles alike.

Confidante

As we progress through life, we experience physical and emotional pain, confusion, heartbreak, disappointment, misunderstandings, loneliness, hardship and many other mild or serious traumas, and we carry stress that impacts our wellbeing and resilience on a daily basis.

Physical therapies are important, but talking is also so important to help you process, gain clarity and heal. Talking to a confidante is a safe space to help you process your thoughts and emotions with an undercurrent of counselling and coaching practices to enable you to move forward in a more positive and peaceful way.
