Is there a cure for Parkinson’s?

At the moment, there’s no cure for Parkinson’s, and no treatment can slow or stop the condition.

Some treatments and lifestyle approaches may modestly slow functional decline, protect quality of life, or delay complications, even if they do not cure the disease.

World Parkinson’s Day felt especially meaningful this year as our community came together with such warmth and generosity. Thanks to the brilliant team at Culmore Community Partnership, the wonderful bakers of the Culmore Women’s Institute, and everyone who came to support the event, the tables were filled with the most gorgeous home‑baked treats and the atmosphere was incredible.

Your kindness helped raise an amazing £338 for Parkinson's UK in Northern Ireland, and we are truly grateful to every single person who contributed, attended, baked, donated, or helped spread the word.

A heartfelt thank‑you to all who made the day such a success. 💚💙

Saturday 11th April is World Parkinson's Day. Meet one of our amazing clients, Marjorie.

Marjorie openly discusses her Parkinson’s diagnosis, sharing that she misses playing her keyboard and simple joys like hopscotch with her granddaughter. Care Pro Megan is there daily to provide practical assistance around the house, ensuring Marjorie is always comfortable and supported.

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month

Home Instead Foyle & Erne are launching a monthly awareness campaign to shine a light on Parkinson’s, a condition that touches the lives of so many in our community.
Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing helpful information, busting common myths, and highlighting the experiences of those living with Parkinson’s and the carers who support them every day.

Join us for our Parkinson’s Cake Sale at the Culmore Hub on Monday 13th, where we’ll be raising funds and bringing the community together for a great cause.
