🚶🏼‍♀️Movement during perimenopause and menopause can make a real difference to how you feel physically and mentally.

But when you’re dealing with fatigue, anxiety, joint pain, disrupted sleep, and a working day or caring responsibilities, and it’s raining again (!) exercise can easily feel like one more thing on an already overwhelming list.

In this Reel, Dr Lucy Mather talks about:
👉 Why movement matters during menopause
👉 The symptoms that can make it harder to stay active
👉 The impact of everyday life, from working from home to caring responsibilities
👉 How taking a whole-person approach can help you build a realistic, supportive plan

Because support shouldn’t just focus on symptoms. It should reflect the realities of your life.

If you’ve recently started Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), or you’re considering it, it’s completely natural to wonder:

🕐When might I begin to notice improvements in my symptoms?

For many women, menopause symptoms develop gradually over time, from disrupted sleep and anxiety to hot flushes and difficulty concentrating.

☺️HRT can make a meaningful difference for many women. And understanding what you may begin to notice in the first few weeks and months of treatment can help you feel more supported along the way.

In our latest blog, we explain:
• When some symptom relief may begin
• What changes you might notice over time
• When treatment may need adjusting
• Why menopause support should take a whole-person approach

Menopause isn’t something you simply have to endure, and understanding what to expect from treatment is an important first step.

💓Have you ever suddenly become aware of your heartbeat racing, fluttering or pounding, for no obvious reason?

Heart can be a symptom of and , and are recognised in NHS guidance alongside more commonly discussed symptoms like hot flushes and sleep disturbance.

While often linked to hormonal change, they can feel worrying, particularly when they affect your ability to rest, focus at work, or relax in the evening.

Support may include menopause treatment where appropriate, lifestyle changes that support cardiovascular health, or therapies such as CBT, which NICE guidance suggests may help with physical menopause symptoms.

👉 If you’re experiencing persistent palpitations, it’s important to speak to a clinician, especially if they’re accompanied by chest pain, dizziness, breathlessness, or blackouts.

Menopause affects the whole body.

And the right support should review and reflect that.

We’re delighted to be exhibiting at The Professional Training Conference:

High Performing Teams: Driving collaboration, resilience and results
📅 Wednesday 18 March 2026
📍 BMA House, London

High-performing teams are at the heart of successful law firms. We'll be there, as there’s a retention risk rarely discussed in performance conversations.

1 in 4 lawyers is at menopause age.

In private practice, this often means Senior Associates and Partners - the point where client relationships, billable contribution and institutional knowledge are at their peak.

Research shows:
• 1 in 10 women leave work due to menopausal symptoms
• 17% consider leaving because of lack of support
• 53% have been unable to work at some point
• Nearly half don’t disclose the real reason

Each day of absence can equate to £1,000–£2,600 in lost billable hours.

Across Law firms, such as those represented at this event:
23% have a menopause policy
28% offer menopause training
Access to specialist 1:1 support is rare

If we are talking about resilience, collaboration and sustained high performance - menopause must be part of the strategy.

Visit the Jaya Life stand to explore:
✔ The financial impact of menopause-related attrition
✔ What best practice looks like in partnership models
✔ How clinically grounded support protects retention and productivity

“The promotion I nearly walked away from.”

At 45, Heather was thriving in a senior leadership role in health tech. Then, slowly, things began to shift.

Anxiety.
Brain fog.
Broken sleep.
Fatigue.
A loss of confidence she didn’t recognise.

She thought she was burning out. She wasn’t.

She was perimenopausal - still having periods, but experiencing fluctuating hormones affecting her mood, cognition and resilience.

After being told HRT might not be an option due to clotting risk, she sought specialist advice. With personalised treatment including transdermal oestrogen and progesterone, she began to improve.

But she wasn’t fully restored.

Further assessment revealed low testosterone - something rarely discussed in women’s hormonal care. Under careful specialist supervision, testosterone was introduced.

“Adding testosterone was the missing piece of the jigsaw. Within weeks, I felt completely restored.”

Her clarity returned.
Her decisiveness returned.
Her confidence returned.
Three years on, she’s thriving - professionally and personally.

Menopause symptoms can be medically manageable when approached with evidence-based care. The difference is often access, nuance and time.

In this case study, we explore what changed, and why it matters for women’s careers.

We’d love to hear your perspective - is menopause talked about openly in your workplace?

17/02/2026

Dr Lucy Mather recently recorded her first ever podcast 🎙️ - joining HR: ER to talk about menopause in the workplace.

They covered:
✔️ Why menopause is becoming a major workplace issue
✔️ The real symptoms affecting performance (fatigue, anxiety, poor sleep, loss of confidence)
✔️ Why women are leaving roles at 45–55
✔️ What employers can actually do to support staff

One powerful message:
“If you lose a woman at 45 or 50, you may have lost 15 years of leadership and experience.”

Menopause isn’t just a wellbeing conversation - it’s about retention, financial impact and culture.

A huge thank you to the HR: ER team for opening up this important discussion🙏

By the time many women reach the height of their leadership potential, menopause may be quietly reshaping their experience of work.

Government data shows almost 900,000 women in the UK have left their jobs due to menopausal symptoms.

One in ten leave work entirely. Seventeen per cent consider leaving because of a lack of support.

At the same time, women aged 50–64 are the fastest-growing group in the UK workforce.

This is not a fringe wellbeing topic. It is a strategic workforce issue.

NHS guidance makes it clear: menopause symptoms, including anxiety, low mood, sleep disturbance and cognitive difficulty, are medically manageable. With appropriate treatment and support, many women see significant improvement.

Yet nearly half of women who take menopause-related absence do not tell their employer the real reason.

Silence leads to presenteeism, burnout and preventable attrition.

Organisations that retain senior female talent tend to focus on:
• Clear, practical menopause policy
• Evidence-based manager education
• Confidential access to specialist clinical support

Menopause support is not special treatment. It is removing a medically manageable barrier to performance.

In our latest blog, we explore the data, the clinical evidence and what best practice looks like for UK employers.

Progesterone plays a vital role in menopause care, but it isn’t always easy to tolerate.

If you have a uterus and are using oestrogen as part of HRT, progesterone is essential to protect the womb lining. But some women experience side effects that feel clearly linked to progesterone, including mood changes, anxiety or bloating.

This doesn’t mean progesterone is “bad” and it doesn’t mean HRT isn’t right for you.

Different formulations, doses and regimens can make a real difference, and support should always be personalised.

Our latest blog explains why progesterone matters, what intolerance can look like, and what options exist if it doesn’t suit you.

💬 We’ve made real progress in talking about mental health but some experiences still feel difficult to name.

For many women, menopause brings changes to mental wellbeing that can feel overwhelming: anxiety, low mood, brain fog, emotional ups and downs.

And yet these experiences often go unspoken.

This Time To Talk Day is about braving the big talk, opening up about the mental health challenges that still feel uncomfortable or easy to dismiss.

Talking won’t solve everything overnight. But it can be the first step towards feeling understood and supported.

💬 Whether it’s with a friend, family member or professional, you don’t have to carry it alone.
