Abermill enjoyed a lovely church service with rev Pauline who visits our home regularly. Our residents always look forward to the service, joining in with hymns, prayers and quiet reflection and memories.

Today at Abermill we had the pleasure of welcoming Gareth Gittings to our home. Gareth, who lived in Abertridwr, has written many beautiful poems about the village a place close to the hearts of so many of our residents. As he read his poems aloud, it sparked wonderful conversations, storytelling and lots of reminiscing about treasures memories from years gone by. We have added two of Gareth's poems that he kindly shared and read to us. A big thank you to Gareth for taking time to visit our residents. We thoroughly enjoyed your company and look forward to welcoming you back for more poetry and discussions soon. We also celebrated Ceinwens birthday today. She had many lovely visitors throughout the day .

More celebrations at Abermill. We were delighted to welcome back Craig Balien for a wonderful Welsh St David's Day Concert. The afternoon was full of patriotism, with many well known Welsh songs and poems performed beautifully. There were proud voices all around the home singing along to calon lan, sosban fach the Welsh anthem, and many other much loved Welsh favourites It was truly heart warming to see many families joining us once again to support the residents and share in the celebrations. Thank you to our amazing kitchen team for preparing delicious bara brith and Welsh cakes. And as always, thank you to all our staff for helping make the afternoon such a success.

Today at abermill two of our residents wished to pop to Caerphilly for a cuppa and a tea cake. While we were in town we enjoyed a gentle walk around Caerphilly castle . As we were walking Jeanette asked if we could go to the park. Of course I said yes. We headed to penyrheol park where Jeanette shared that she had spent many days there in the past sitting on the benches watching the world go by. While we were there we chatted about childhood memories, laughed together and even had a little moment on the swings. Truly a lovely morning out.

Abermill have been busy residents have been busy baking cookies apologies, we forgot to take photos of our lovely residents making them, but they certainly went down a treat. We had a gentleman's News Club. Our gentlemen have been enjoying reading the daily Newspaper and discussing current news and world matters together. This encouraged conversation, opinions and healthy debate. We've also started decorating for St David's day with beautiful mindful colouring. This sparked some wonderful reminiscing about past Eisteddfods traditional Welsh costumes and fond memories dressing up as Welsh girls and boys. Alongside our group activities, we continued with meaningful one to one sessions. We were also visited by our lovely hairdresser Sandra who made sure everyone was looking glam and feeling fabulous.
