“Explore the Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland” We have organised this in-person event, co-hosted by the Counselling Unit at Strathclyde University. The event will offer a 3 hour CPD certificate to everyone who attends.

Date: 30th January 2024 (Tickets must be booked by 28th January)

Time: 10am - 1pm (registration is at 9.30am)

Location: Senate Suite, Collins Building, 22 Richmond Street, Glasgow G1 1XH

Cost: £50 (£25 for PCU members)

Join us for a thought-provoking exploration of the evolving landscape of counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland. The event will provide the opportunity for practitioners, employers, service providers and training organisations to pose questions to the panel for discussion, to gain insight into what the Scottish government policy and SCoPEd framework mean for the profession and for those it impacts; to shape the future of the profession, and ultimately for those who benefit from it, the clients.

Register Here: https://onlineshop.strath.ac.uk/conferences-and-events/humanities-and-social-sciences-faculty/counselling-unit/counselling-unit-general/the-future-of-counselling-and-psychotherapy-in-scotland?token=16fb9a36f270890dbb6dda606a802348

The panel members are:

Caz Binstead
Anne Lee
Jon Levett
Adrian Martinez
Professor John McLeod
Dr Jen Remnant (Chair)
Professor Kate Smith
Paul Sweeney MSP

Limited spaces are available and early registration is recommended.

We have had to make charge for tickets because the event is expensive to put on, there is no intention to make a profit. The charge for PCU members is £25, for non-members it is £50.

The decision was made not to stream the event because of the extra costs that would entail and because of the likelihood that it would impact on what people were happy to share or say.

The event is not purely for PCU members, it is open to anyone who is interested. SCoPEd (in the Scottish context) is on the agenda, there will also be discussions around the Scottish Government Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy that was published in June 2023.

We are in the process of organising an in-person event, co-hosted by the Counselling Unit at Strathclyde University, to explore the future of the Counselling and Psychotherapy profession. This will include the potential implications of SCoPEd for practitioners, clients, services and training in the Scottish context. If you think you would be interested in attending the event, please email pcuscottishbranch@gmail.com.

It will be on Tuesday 30th January, from 10am - 1pm, at Strathclyde University in Glasgow.

The event will provide the opportunity for practitioners, employers and training organisations to pose questions to the panel for discussion. It will be a ticketed event. We are working to keep the costs as low as possible, there will be a concession for PCU members. We hope to be able to confirm the panel members and provide further details soon.
