When Mothers' Day is painful:
Mothers’ Day can be a difficult time for all sorts of reasons - you may have lost your mother or lost contact with her; you may be longing for children of your own but have been unable to conceive or have suffered a miscarriage; you may have lost a child or be unable to see your own children or been estranged from them.
If you are struggling with any of the above and want support with the pain of it, email me and we can arrange to have a phone call to explore what I could offer you in terms of counselling sessions.

Valentine's Day -
celebrate or time for sadness?

Not everyone will have been celebrating Valentine’s Day yesterday. For some, it is a lonely time – maybe because they have lost a loved one, or their loved one is away with work or they have recently gone through a relationship breakdown or have not yet found ‘the one’.
Whatever the reason, if you want to talk to someone, I’m here as a counsellor offering space to listen.

I know that this never-ending wet weather is really depressing but I find I appreciate even more the times when I get sunshine and a dry dog walk.
And the morning walks are now light! Spring is coming 😌

I know that this time of year can be difficult for many people - the short, dark days and the freezing cold weather of winter but the new year can be an opportunity for a fresh start, a chance to press reset. You don’t have to set yourself huge, unattainable goals but you can choose small, manageable ones, which are so satisfying when you reach them and you can then feel motivated to set the next stage of small goals.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year which is free of stress and full of promise.

I am sure a lot of you are finding the darker afternoons depressing now the nights are drawing in.
I heard an interesting piece about seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and how to combat it. It helps to get outside and spend time in natural light and it's especially beneficial to take exercise in nature. Exercise is also good for boosting your serotonin levels. Enjoy those autumn colours!

I am passionate about helping people who are struggling with their mental health and my aim is to support you as you talk through whatever situation you may be facing. I will listen to you in a non-judgmental way, helping you to understand your situation better and to explore how you want to move forward.

I offer face to face therapy in a counselling room, but I also offer outdoor therapy, because some people find it easier to talk about difficult topics while walking beside someone or sitting together surrounded by nature.

I also offer online sessions, where we would meet on Zoom or have telephone counselling if you would prefer not to travel for your sessions.
