Did you know, just 20 minutes of contact with nature has many of health benefits.

It can feel hard to drag yourself out of your warm home but we promise, once you're out there you will be glad you made the effort. Here are our top tips for making the most of your walk.

💚Wrap up warm. There's no such thing as bad weather- just bad clothing (unless of course there is a storm in which case you should stay indoors)
💚Slow down. Really pay attention to what you can see around you. At this time of year many of the trees are starting to bud and new life is emerging from the earth.
💚Take a hot drink with you. Nature provides some beautiful seats where you can sit for a while and your drink will help to keep you warm while you're not moving.
💚Take in everything around you. The sounds, the sights, the smells. Notice how the air feels on your skin...touch the trees around you observing their texture
💚Notice how good it makes you feel 🥰
💚Repeat daily

Here are just some of the benefits of getting outside and connecting with nature:

(Warrior 2) Named after the Hindu God Shiva.

This pose helps us to connect with the masculine elements of ourselves and allows us to stand in our fierce warrior goddess energy.

It is one of the foundation yoga poses, some might say basic but, done mindfully, it is strong, empowering and uplifting. It will energise your body and mind and increase your strength, stamina and concentration.

It's hard not to feel joyful when you're rocking out in Happy Baby pose. A lovely restorative pose that calms the mind and helps to relieve stress and fatigue while helping you to connect with you inner child. It provides a wonderful stretch to the hips, inner groins and lower back, while helping to lengthen and realign the spine. It also strengthens the arms and shoulders.

We'll explore this and other postures that will help you to tap into that playful joyous state at our retreat on 26th March.

Want to give it a try? As with most asanas, there are several variations so you can find one that suit you. Here are the two basic options:

☀️Begin lying on your back then bend your knees towards your chest and separate the feet and knees wide.
☀️If its accessible, take hold of the outer edges of the feet stacking your ankles over your knees. If not, you may find it more comfortable to hold on to the backs of the thighs.
☀️Shine the soles of your feet toward the sky and if you're holding the feet, gently begin to pull down on them bringing the knees closer to the armpits.
☀️Lengthen your tailbone down toward the mat to find the natural curve of the low back, and keep the shoulders and head down.
☀️Keep your feet flexed and extend out energetically through the heels.

I like to stay here for a good 10 breaths - sometimes more. Be playful, if it feels good, rock from side to side...and don't forget to smile 😊
