Social Connection

I’m an extrovert — I feelĀ restoredĀ by other people.
I have a big, brilliant mix of friends who keep me grounded, challenged, and supported — and I value those deep, honest relationships so much.

But for me, it’s also about theĀ small moments:
✨ a warm chat with someone new
✨ making a stranger smile
✨ shared kindness in unexpected places

Human connection is as vital to me as breathing.

In my work, this shows up in the compassion and empathy I bring to every visit. I care deeply about the parents and children I support — not just about their practical needs, but about how they’reĀ really feelingĀ underneath it all.

This work is all about human connection — and I know that being truly seen and heard can change everything.

Let me know if any of this resonates with you, or if you are someone who needs time alone to recharge?

Nature & Environment 🌿

This value has two parts for me.

Firstly,Ā being outside calms my nervous system. If I’m stressed or overwhelmed, just stepping into the garden and taking a few deep breaths helps. Even better if there’s water nearby — a river, a quiet stream, spring blossom, birdsong. That’s when I feel most at peace.

Secondly, I try to be mindful of the planet. I can get overwhelmed by how much waste and harm big organisations create — it makes me feel powerless at times. So I focus on whatĀ IĀ can do: reducing our plastic use, making thoughtful purchases, choosing eco-friendly brands when I can. (I’ll share a few of my favourites below šŸŒ). I'd love an electric car one day, but for now, I do what I can.

In my work — as a mental health nurse and doula — I see how powerful nature can be.
ā˜€ļø A hot, unsettled baby often settles in the fresh air.
šŸƒ A toddler walk turns into a magical trail of sticks and leaves.
🦶 And for parents, just stepping outside with a warm drink, or putting your bare feet on the grass, can help bring you back to yourself.

Do you share this value with me?
How does nature show up inĀ yourĀ life?

for the best skincare, I've been a hardcore devotee for a few years now. I send my pots back for refills of eye cream, moisturiser and face serum.

hair conditioner, shower gel, washing up liquid, and handsoap from

for bars of shower gel (soap) that doesn't dry out my skin and smells gorgeous.

šŸ’« My values (in more depth) - Health 🌿

For me, health means looking after both my mental and physical wellbeing — giving them equal priority, even if I don’t always get the balance right.

Right now, it looks like regular pilates and bootcamp classes, daily walks, and stretching for mobility. But I’m still working on things like healthier snacking and getting enough sleep. That's life with 3 children, 2 jobs and 1 dog šŸ˜‚

I know that movement helps my mental health too — but so does time with people I love, keeping good boundaries, and finding small moments of joy in the everyday.

In my work, this value shows up as a holistic approach to support. Whether you're recovering physically, navigating emotional change, or figuring out what your version of ā€œwellbeingā€ looks like — I’ll meet you there, without judgement.

When I neglect this value in my own life, I start to feel it — restless, irritable, sluggish. That’s my nudge to get back on track.

šŸ’¬ Does this resonate with you too? What does health mean for you?

Postnatal anxiety is so common, but hard to talk about.

Anxiety is often rooted in ā€œwhat ifā€ worries about the future — which can feel even more intense once you have a baby to protect. That sense of constant responsibility, exacerbated by poor sleep, and alongside fears of being judged or not being good enough, can make it really hard to ask for help.

If this resonates with you, please know you’re not alone. ThereĀ isĀ help, and you deserve support. If you’d like to explore how I can gently support you with my combination of mental health and doula skills, send me a message today, or book a Tea + Talk call with me.

The 4th trimester (part 2)

Your baby isn’t just adjusting to life on the outside - they’re still longing for the safe, familiar world of the womb.

In those first weeks and months, everything can feel overwhelming, but your closeness is exactly what they need. Warmth, movement, soft sounds, gentle cuddles - it’s how they feel safe.

Send me a message if you need any more ideas or tips on newborn baby care ā¤ļø

The 4th trimester (part 1)

ā”ā”Did you already know this?

šŸ¦’ Every time I think about it I picture baby giraffes being born and having to get up and walk - imagine if humans were able to birth toddlers and they'd come out walking and talking šŸ˜±šŸ˜‚

Yes, it goes quickly. But that doesn’t mean you have to love every sleepless night, every cluster feed, every moment of loneliness or overload.

Some bits are magical. Some bits are absolutely p**p. Literally and emotionally.

You’re not doing it wrong if you don’t love it all.

If you’ve heard the phrase "enjoy every moment" - how did you respond?

As a new mum, some days it feels like you're barely keeping your head above water.
Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness - it's a necessity.

Your partner only gets 2 weeks off (4 if he's lucky).
Your family are nowhere near, or for other reasons are emotionally or physically unavailable.
Your friends are working, or busy having their own babies.
You don't want to burden people.
You don't want others to think you can't cope.

Who will listen to your whisper of "this is too much"?
Who can you text to say "what if I'm doing it wrong?"
Who will hear your cry for help "my baby deserves better"?

Me! My unique combination of mental health and doula skills means I can be there with you, listening, providing information, practical support, and strategies to guide you to a place of calm and confidence.

Book a Tea + Talk call with me and let's go from there.

šŸ¤°šŸ» Are you having a baby soon?
Have you started thinking about your postpartum yet?

ā³ Even though I'm a postnatal doula, it doesn't mean we can't start having conversations now.

šŸ“ž If you're pregnant and already feeling anxious or worrying about how you'll cope when baby's here - let's talk.

ā™„ļø I specialise in supporting mums who have mental health concerns and need emotional as well as practical care. Planning ahead can make a huge difference!

I've been reflecting a lot this week, because Ian had taken the girls away for a few days, so I had time to myself (which was lovely, although it was too quiet at times!).

I wondered if it made me a bad mum that I was looking forward to them being away, and I thought about how completely overwhelming it is to have a new baby and the responsibility feels all-consuming.

My words of kindness to you (if you're in the thick of it right now) and to my younger new-mum self are you're doing better than you think and it's okay to need a break.

Do ask for help - from your partner, friends, family, health professionals - or find a postnatal doula who completely gets it and can offer that emotional and practical support.
