Currently, we have been working with a professor, from the University of Cambridge, to apply for EPSRC funding for organ on chip devices and 3D bio printing. They are devices that have organ cells in a structure mimicking how they would be in the body. These devices give a better representation of the physiological environment in the body than single cells on their own. This is very useful for drug discovery, allowing for the testing of drugs very early on in a system that better represents the body. We will help them with commercialization aspects of the technology relating to regulatory-and quality management; assist in human factors studies (formative and summative) for the organ on chip devices; and advise and assist on safety design considerations to make the devices more repeatably and scalably.
