What heals trauma?
An attuned person, a therapist/ parent/friend is one who feels safe to us because they have an embodied response. They are not just hearing the words of the us, but all of our non-verbal communications. They are taking us in and experiencing this from deep within their Self. The attuned person can do this because they have done their own healing work, they are safe enough in themselves to really listen from their deep - ancient brain and not rely on just cognitive thinking and talking alone. When a traumatised person (or animal) is felt and connected deeply like this they become more regulated, can process trauma, and create a new adaptive response to what previously was affecting them.
