Mighty Little Warriors - Senbetweeners brings together those beautiful kids that currently fall between the resources and capacity of mainstream school, and those provided by Special educational schools. It’s a space for home-educated kids and adults who are navigating the world of being “senbewtweener” parents. Trying to find the right spaces, places and activities can be overwhelming, isolating and anxiety inducing - especially for those whose kids exhibit certain behaviours (meltdowns, hitting/kicking, vocal stimming, etc etc etc!!).
These kids are not a problem.
They exist in a societal system that is unable to attend to their needs and is failing them.
They have big hearts, big personalities and deep emotions - exactly the kind of people the world needs right now.
These kids are the game changers and warriors of the future. Their very existence is already beginning to shine a very bright spotlight on to an outdated schooling system that’s failing lots of kids (not just SEND kids). These are the kids making waves, and sometimes tsunamis, and we are the parents blessed with the mission to ensure the positive development of these mighty little warriors.
This group is run by a mum whose 5 year old is currently (Dec 2024) going through a diagnosis and we suspect ADHD with a PDA (Pathalogical Demand Avoidance) profile (or I prefer Persistent Drive for Autonomy). I am also a SEND swim teacher and have been a SEND mentor in a mainstream school. So, any meet ups we do, know that YOU nor your child will EVER be judged or made to feel like you’re to blame.
The flow and activities of our meet ups will be organic and based on the kids we have and their needs, while a level of flexi-structure will be in place. Obviously, the more regular attendance is, the better we’re able to bespoke our meet ups.
So keep an eye out for posts on meet ups.
We are based in Chilham, Kent - near Ashford/Canterbury/Faversham.
