I’M TIRED!

Tired of being told we don’t need overseas care professionals.
Tired of hearing that we can simply “train people locally”—as if the willingness, values, and dedication required to work in care can be summoned on command.

The truth? We turned to the overseas market because too few here are stepping forward. Not because we wanted to, but because we had to.

And thank goodness we did. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most compassionate, skilled, and dedicated care professionals from around the world. They’ve strengthened our teams, uplifted our clients, and become a valued part of our communities.

To see their contributions dismissed so casually by recent government decisions is, frankly, shameful.

Care roles should be filled by those with the values, skill, and heart to serve others—regardless of where they were born. We talk about inclusion and person-centred values in our sector every day. Perhaps it’s time the government lived up to those same standards.

We are better because of our overseas care professionals.

We should be standing with them—not shutting the door.
