Thanks to everyone for being so patient with me. I know I’m taking waaay longer than planned to get to everyone. I still have a good chunk of people still to get to but I’m doing my best!

I didn’t realise how long it took after a cast was removed, to recover from a break. I really did. Think I’d be back to normal within a few weeks of the cast coming off.

And to add to an already frustrating year, the injury meant I wasn’t moving my arm for an extended period of time which caused a problem in my shoulder. I made an appointment with the trauma clinic, but sadly there was no immediate times available, so still waiting. Wasn’t able to get an appointment until the end of April.
Today I gave in and called the GP who has told me that I need to see a physio (which is why I called the trauma clinic, but they won’t refer me to a physio until they’ve assessed me first!)
Turns out, I might have frozen shoulder.

Anyone know anything about frozen shoulder? Or about how long I might be waiting for a physio?

So after my first day back at work properly, it’s a mix of emotions. Good to be back out there, but my limit is lower than I’d like. Pushed myself today and couldn’t even put the socks back on for my last clients. I’m slower than normal, I found it surprisingly tiring to do less work than I am used to doing, but I can at least work. It won’t be a quick month ahead, it won’t be plain sailing, but I’m getting back whilst also trying not to delaythe healing.

At the moment I’ve decided not to make appointments ahead of time - next week I might feel a bit more confident, but at the moment I’m taking it one client at a time and then stopping when I need a rest. I’m trying to see clients in order of priority - but I know people are getting desperate.
Thanks for being patient with me! I’ll get to everyone I promise. In the meantime, I do understand that some will urgently attention and as I said 7 weeks ago, that might mean you need to make an appointment elsewhere for now. I completely understand and if that’s the case, let me know and then I can book you in for 6 weeks time.

Cast is off and the Foot Lady is back to work!

Well, kind off. More pain in my arm than I’d hoped at this stage and not a lot of movement in my wrist, but I’m calling in to see a few people at a time and starting to work my way through the backlog of appointments!
Please be patient! I’m doing my best! 😂

So I’m in cast for 5 more weeks and then I have to wait an extra week after that (they will swap me to a brace for 2-3 weeks and give me physio) before I can start working. So I should be back up and running in 6 weeks, all be it with my arm still in a support, but at least useable!

Well, after 95 phone calls so far, about 400 texts, about 7 hours of minutes spent on the phone and too many appointments cancelled (still only properly cancelled 2 weeks of appointments, so lots still to go) you'll be happy to know that I am at least, mostly pain free now. A few aches and pains still, but all the swelling has gone and I can move my fingers again!

Got an appointment with the trauma clinic first thing Monday morning, so will hopefully have a much better idea of the time frame after that appointment!

If you're appointment is still not for a few weeks, you'll hear from me closer to the time. If you've had a text from me, but not a phone call, please feel free to ring me if you need to.

So it's been a hectic weekend that has not really gone to plan.

I fell and broke my wrist.

Spent all afternoon yesterday at the Heath getting it x-rayed only to find out I've managed to break it not once, but twice! Went through a surprisingly painful process of having my wrist stretched and squeezed back into position and now the proud owner of a new cast that's already driving me bonkers.

All this means, to all my lovely clients, that I'm am unable to work and am just about to start cancelling appointments. I'll send out an immediate text to as many people as possible within the next hour and post this message on some of the local Facebook groups, before I start working my way through the list making phone calls.

I am currently unable to give an exact time scale for recovery - will have a better idea in a couple weeks when I've had another check up, so please be patient with me! It is likely to be at least 6 weeks, so many of my clients will need to make an appointment elsewhere asap.
I will do my best to keep people updated. I have set up a business page which people are welcome to check in on or you can text, WhatsApp or call me.

If you see this, please like this post or post a comment or send me a message - let me know you've seen this just so I'm able to keep track of who knows so I don't miss anyone! As you can imagine it will take a little while to get through to everyone.
