Hello! I'm Beth, the face behind The Early-Stage Dementia Group. 👋

I'm a Mum a wife and a keeper of multiple animals!

My work background is varied and includes more than 10 years in Dementia care, in care homes with young onset, palliative, in the community and everything in-between.

After the diagnosis of a close family member, I started looking for clubs that catered for early stage but couldn't find anything that suited us, so, the Early Stage Dementia Club was born! 🌟

I quickly wanted to offer more help for people living with the early-stages of Dementia and cognitive impairment, so I undertook Cognitive Stimulation Therapy training!

I now offer Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions in Cardigan!

You can find out more about the sessions by reading my posts or emailing me at

With in full swing, what better time to highlight the importance of an early diagnosis. Early intervention means access to medication and services that keep quality of life good for longer.

Word warm up for our CST session on creativity was all do do with sensory swapping! A normal household object was chosen then we explored what our object might, sound, taste, feel, look and smell like!
Some very creative words came up for what a shovel might taste like!!

Fun, laughter and nervous system regulation are so important in helping the brain and neuroplasticity.

‘What is dementia?’ Let’s break it down 👇

Dementia is a group of symptoms that show your brain isn’t working as it should.

Early symptoms are often mild, and might include little things like misplacing your belongings, struggling to find the right word for everyday objects, or finding day-to-day activities difficult.

Many of us will notice changes to thinking abilities and memory as we get older. However with dementia, these symptoms get worse over time.

And when symptoms start to interfere with daily life, this is known as dementia.

It’s really important to remember that dementia is caused by diseases that damage your brain – it’s not a normal part of getting older.

So if you’re worried about yourself or someone else, speak to your GP, or give our Dementia Support Line a call on 0333 150 3456 for more support and advice.

And please share this post so we can raise awareness of dementia and educate as many people as possible about this devastating condition.

A wonderful calm, connected and meaningful CST session this Wednesday. We explored our creative side with patterns and texture.

We had an array of different sensory activities including kinetic sand, different stamps and rock painting with acrylic pens.

If you know someone who is living with mild to moderate cognitive changes then cognitive stimulation therapy could be just the thing to help them live life to the full.
