I’m currently having a wee break away to relax and recharge as been a very busy start to the year. I just wanted to share a bit of nature with you. I’m not a big wildlife fan but this was beautiful this morning! How many birds can you hear?! (Video in comments). I’ve also seen loads of squirrels, and I met a 20 year old Barn owl called Professor. Anyone that knows me knows I don’t set New Year’s resolutions but just to try something new each year. I’ve done three new things just this week and enjoyed them all - raven throwing, axe throwing and then holding an owl. It’s amazing how doing new things can change your mindset, boost your confidence a bit and gets you thinking about other new things to try. I’ve been lucky to go away and do this with friends but even little things we can change when at home or nearby too. Give yourself 5 mins to pause, have a think about doing something different and then make a plan. One client told me recently how they’d swapped hands recently cleaning their teeth and brushing their hair and how it made them giggle. It didn’t have to be anything massive. Let me know if you try anything or plan to, would be great to hear all your ideas.
Hope you all have a restful bank holiday weekend. Take care ❤️

After working on this plan before the Easter holidays over a couple of sessions to help reduce anxiety, mainly with flying, I saw the young person yesterday and asked how effective this plan was. Her answer was 80.592% effective!! We will go with that!! Another overall success and she had the best time away ❤️💪
Back to it for a lot of my young people and we are working on exam stress and anxiety mostly. Here’s to another good term, we’ve got this 💪💪💪🥰

Lovely piece of work done today. This is a ‘happy place’ visual. This can be used when feeling particularly anxious to take your mind elsewhere, break that anxious thought cycle and promote some positivity, calm and something nice or funny to remember. My young person is going to spend a few mins every day looking at this and think about all the good things that happened so when they go back to school next week, they have another strategy to use if needed. Another tool in the toolkit ✅ check! ❤️

Another good piece of work done with a young person recently. He wanted to make a poster of things he can do to calm himself down when he feels angry, so over a few sessions we completed a little anger intervention, talked some things through and then produced this ❤️ I feel so proud of all my young people, they are all really working hard on themselves and becoming better equipped to manage their emotions, not just for now but for life! 🥰

Having talked through what anxiety can look like and ‘that part of the brain’ with one of my younger people, we decided to create a poster as a reminder for wibbly wobbly days. She is so creative and wanted to put into her own words what it all means, and this is the end product! I’m beyond proud and blown away with how hard she is working on herself and progressing in managing the anxiety ❤️💪 Her favourite saying currently is ‘I’m in charge!’ Yes you are, you have taken back the power and reaping the rewards now. Keep going!! 💪💪💪
Bloomin’ love my job! ❤️

Hey lovely people!
January is done. It’s been very busy in the JGWC headquarters, hence why my social media pages go on the back burner. I’ve gained quite a few younger people recently and we’ve talked lots about a particular part of our brain called the Amygdala, and I thought it would be worth sharing with everyone, as understanding is just as important as the strategies and techniques that we all build.
Hope you’re all implementing some self-care that I always bang on about 😃. Please make sure you rest at some point today, it is soooooo important ❤️
