Are you looking to register with an NHS dentist?

The Dental Access Portal allows you to apply online for routine NHS dental treatment.

You will then be contacted by the health board once a suitable space at a dental practice becomes available.

You can register your interest if:
• You do not currently have a routine NHS dentist
• You live at an address in Swansea Bay for more than six months of the year or are registered with a GP in Swansea Bay.

You can apply for a place with an NHS dentist as an individual or on behalf of others, such as a child, family member or as a paid or unpaid carer.

The Dental Access Portal is not for patients requiring urgent care, please call 111 for advice and help in finding an urgent dental appointment if needed.

Find more information and a link to the Dental Access Portal here: https://sbuhb.nhs.wales/community-primary-care/primary-care/dentists/dental-access-portal/

The immunisation team will be at the Dementia Hwb, The Quadrant Shopping Centre, in Swansea. 10am-4pm.
28/05/2026

The immunisation team will be at the Dementia Hwb, The Quadrant Shopping Centre, in Swansea. 10am-4pm.

Update: Please note a change of location on Thursday 28th May. The team will now be at the Dementia Hwb, The Quadrant Shopping Centre, Swansea, SA1 3QW. 10:00am – 4:00pm.

This May half term, our Immunisation Team will be delivering catch up childhood vaccinations at a range of locations across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot for school aged children (aged 4-16).

Childhood immunisation is a foundation of public health, offering several key benefits that protect children from potentially life-threatening illnesses such as:

• Diphtheria,
• Tetanus,
• Hepatitis B
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
• Meningitis
• Human papillomavirus (HPV)

These diseases can cause severe complications, long-term disability, or even death. Immunisation helps prevent these outcomes by building a child’s immunity before being exposed to the diseases. Vaccines help train their bodies to recognise and fight the disease, giving them a head start in developing strong natural defences.

If your child has not received some/or all of their childhood immunisation for any reason, or if you would like further information and advice on any of the vaccines, please come see the immunisation team at the following locations and dates;

• Thursday 28th May – Dementia Hwb, The Quadrant Shopping Centre, Swansea, SA1 3QW. 10:00am – 4:00pm.

Now the bank holiday weekend is here, many will take the opportunity to tackle gardening and DIY projects. Keep safe by following a few sensible tips.

If you’re cutting the lawn, using power tools or even using a ladder please take care.

Over the years we’ve seen many avoidable injuries, including severed toes after people use a mower wearing flip flops or soft sandals. Serious injuries to hands and fingers can also happen, so switch all power off before inspecting mowers or power tools.

Be careful on ladders, as falls from heights can easily lead to broken bones.

Here are a few tips for staying safe when it comes to DIY:
✅ Wear sturdy shoes or boots.
✅ Take extra care when using power tools. Use protective equipment such as gloves or safety glasses to protect against flying debris.
✅ Secure ladders before use and don’t overreach while working at height. Get down and move the ladder instead.
✅ Switch off and unplug machines before making adjustments.

Some tips for staying safe in the garden:
✅ Wear sturdy shoes when cutting the grass or using the strimmer.
✅ Wear safety glasses when using strimmers because stones and other objects may fly up into your face.
✅ If using a ride-on lawnmower, don’t allow children or anyone else to ride on your lap. The safety cut out will not work if they fall as the operator (you) will still be on the seat. Sit-on mowers are not toy rides!
✅ Switch off and unplug machines before clearing grass from mower blades or making any other adjustments.
✅ Be extra careful when lighting barbecues and garden fires. Do not use petrol or other accelerants.
✅Foil tray barbecues placed directly on patio slabs or sand will cause them to superheat often leading to serious burns, so avoid walking on areas where the barbecue has been placed (pets too!) Always dispose of barbecues safely and never bury them in the sand, as sand can also super-heat and burn anyone who walks over it barefoot.
