⬇️Let’s discuss a few myths around sports therapy⬇️

1. As much as one session might reduce pain or increase movement in particular areas of the body. Clients usually feel that they get the best results when they stay on top of their recovery and book a regular appointment instead of waiting until they are sore again.

2. Your massage may not be completely pain free for the entire session, however it is not the aim to inflict pain on the client therefore communication with your therapist is important throughout the session.

3. Many of my clients come from various backgrounds, some are into fitness and compete in different sports, however many of them aren’t into sports at all. We can all suffer from muscle strains and injuries but leaving it and pretending it’s not there isn’t the answer!

During your massage you will likely experience a general reddening of the skin known as erythema.🩸🩸

Erythema occurs as the blood vessels dilate, increasing blood flow to the area being massaged. This assists in flushing away the toxins during treatments while also aiding the recovery and repair of soft tissue.

With the evenings getting brighter many of you are starting to take to the roads again. It is important to remember that efficient recovery is vital when working towards your goals. It is highly likely that you may experience a few aches and pains along the way but regular sports massage will help reduce the risk of injury, allowing you to reach your targets and prepare properly for events such as the upcoming Omagh Half Marathon 👀

💆🏼‍♀️ Neck pain is a common issue with many of my clients and it can often hinder daily life unless treated. Here are my top 3 tips for reducing it:

1️⃣ Regular stretching and movement - don’t stay in the same position for too long, get up and move when you can to avoid your muscles being in unhealthy positions

2️⃣ Make ergonomic adjustments - reduce stress on your neck muscles by positioning your computer monitor at eye level and use the hands-free function on your phone or wear a headset when you can

3️⃣ Book in for a tailored massage - don’t continue to suffer on a daily basis, simply send us a DM to make an appointment 💆🏼‍♂️
