🕊️ How to Choose a Memorial for Your Loved One 🕊️

Losing someone dear is never easy, and choosing a memorial can feel overwhelming. But it’s also a beautiful opportunity to honour their life and legacy in a way that feels meaningful to you and your family.

Here are a few gentle tips to help guide you:

🌿 Reflect on Their Personality
Was your loved one traditional, artistic, spiritual, or adventurous? Let their essence inspire the style, material, and inscription of the memorial.

📍 Consider the Location
Whether it’s a headstone in a cemetery, a garden plaque, or a bench in a favourite park, think about where you and others will feel most connected to them.

💬 Choose Words That Speak from the Heart
A simple quote, a line from a poem, or even a few heartfelt words can say so much. Don’t worry about perfection—focus on sincerity.

🛠️ Explore Your Options
From classic granite headstones to eco-friendly memorials, there are many choices. Take your time, ask questions, and don’t rush the process.

❤️ Make It Personal
Adding a photo, symbol, or custom design can make the memorial truly unique—just like the person you’re remembering.

Above all, trust your instincts. This is your tribute, and it should feel right to you.
If you’re navigating this journey and need support or ideas, T F Morritt & Lazenby & Scorah staff are here to help. 💬 Just call into our branches or send us a message for more information.

🤝 International Day of Charity – Supporting Each Other in Times of Need 🤝

Today, on International Day of Charity, we reflect on the power of kindness, compassion, and community — especially during life’s most difficult moments.

At T F Morritt, we see every day how small acts of care can make a big difference. Whether it’s helping a family through grief, offering support with funeral costs, or simply being there to listen — charity isn’t just about giving, it’s about being present.

💬 How you can show charity today:
Reach out to someone who’s grieving
Donate to a local bereavement or hospice charity
Volunteer your time or skills
Share a kind word or memory
Let’s honour this day by lifting each other up — with empathy, generosity, and love.

📜 Why We Page at a Funeral

Why do we page at a funeral?
It’s a tradition rooted in dignity, respect, and symbolism.

Paging is the act of funeral staff standing in silent tribute as the hearse passes. It’s a moment of honour—marking the final journey of someone deeply loved.

At TF Morritt Funeral Directors, we page to say:
🕊️ You mattered.
🕯️ You are remembered.
❤️ You are not alone.

It’s a small gesture with deep meaning—for the family, the community, and the person who has passed.

If you’ve ever witnessed a funeral procession and seen us pause and page, know that it’s done with reverence and care.

✉️ World Letter Writing Day – A Timeless Way to Remember ✉️

In today’s fast-paced digital world, the simple act of writing a letter can be deeply powerful — especially when it comes to remembering those we’ve lost.

On World Letter Writing Day, we invite you to take a quiet moment to write a letter to someone you miss. Whether it’s a message of love, a memory you want to share, or words you never got to say — putting pen to paper can be a comforting and healing experience.

At T F Morritt, we often see how letters, notes, and messages become treasured keepsakes — tucked into coffins, read aloud at services, or kept close by families.

💌 Why not write a letter today?

To a loved one who’s passed
To your future self
Or to someone who needs to hear from you
Sometimes, the most meaningful goodbyes are written, not spoken.

🖤 From Victorian Mourning to Modern Farewells 🖤

In the Victorian era, mourning was a deeply symbolic part of life. Families followed strict rules about what to wear after a loss:

👗 Widows wore black crepe dresses and veils for up to two years
🎩 Men wore black suits and armbands
💍 Jewellery was minimal — often made from jet or featuring a loved one’s hair
🕰 Mourning periods were carefully timed and socially observed

These customs helped people express grief publicly and honour their loved ones with dignity.

Today, funeral attire is more personal and flexible. While many still choose traditional black, others wear:

🌈 Colours that reflect the personality of the person who has passed
⚽ Football shirts, uniforms, or themed outfits
💐 Bright accessories or meaningful items

Modern funerals are often about celebrating a life — and how we dress can be a powerful part of that tribute.

At T F Morritt, we support families in creating farewells that feel right for them — whether traditional, modern, or something truly unique.
