Here at Little Barn of Calm CIC We provide a calming safe environment for children and young adults to be their true selves without any pressure to 'fit in'.
We offer very small group sessions or 1:1 sessions.
From September we will be offering AQA accreditation in animal care ranging from pre entry level up to level 3.

Typically, I don't share details from private 1:1 sessions, but today's experience perfectly highlights child-led learning.

Noah initiated the idea of creating a mud kitchen and decided to make cakes for the chickens. He not only designed the recipe but also sourced all the ingredients. When the mixture turned out too sloppy, he problem-solved by identifying edible ingredients that could thicken it.

Our next steps include Noah designing a mud kitchen, which we aim to build over his upcoming sessions. He also plans to research and write goat-friendly and dog-friendly recipes.

We had a wonderful time, and the chickens thoroughly enjoyed their cakes!

Wimbledon tennis balls have a second life after being used at the All England Club, as homes for mice! 🤯

Around 55,000 balls are expected to be used at this year's championship, and while some will continue to be used for their intended purpose, many more will be upcycled and used as homes for the small rodents. 😮

In partnership with the Wildlife Trust in Avon, Glamorgan, and Northumberland, balls have been donated to protect harvest mice. 🐭

The balls also protect the mice from extreme weather conditions. The initiative began in 2000 as harvest mice became endangered following the loss of their habitat as a result of farming and flooding. 👏
