Aww teddy really wants to come and help at willow-burn fair today. He closed his eyes so he could sneak there undetected. Sorry Teddy you have to stay home and look after the other animals x

This mornings home ed group was filled with unintentional learning. The gang found a dazed swallow on the way in. We talked about how swallows were shaped to move fast and were the inspiration to several aircraft’s used by the airforce. (The swallow met up with its family again after a minute of rest and meal worms)

We also fed Rusty his breakfast and groomed him. We collected his shedded hair and filled a net for the birds to use to make a lovely warm nest for their chicks.

We planted carrot seeds and learned about chitting potatoes to plant in the allotment.

We also did lots of the usual stuff holding the animals, making chicken food and smashing eggs.

Edit - 11am OMG I can't believe it but I'm almost sold out. There are a few cookies, 2 vegan chocolate & some blondies but that's it!

Amazing work from Derwentside Property Maintenance. We absolutely love our allotment and have lots of fruit and veg already growing.

The allotment opens our student up to even more AQA accreditation in agriculture.

So this week we have been busy slowly introducing our new baby girl (sows) to Darcy so she is not lonely now Toffee has gone. We are looking for name suggestion for these little cuties. Let us know what you think we should call them 🐹 💖💖

Just a little boy and a horse meeting each other exactly as they are 🥺

Places like Little Barn of Calm CIC aren’t just “nice days out.” They are spaces where children who often feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or excluded can finally be.

Communication doesn’t need words, regulation happens naturally and confidence grows in the calm, not the chaos.

For many of the families we support, opportunities like this aren’t easy to find. Accessible, understanding environments matter because inclusion isn’t just about getting through the door it’s about feeling safe once you’re inside.
