🛑 Getting ready to get back behind the wheel after Cataract Surgery? Our newest blog from Anderson Eye Care has you covered — here’s what to know: Driving After Cataract Surgery
🚗 Key takeaways:
🚗Experts typically recommend waiting at least 24 hours after surgery before driving.
🚗Recovery time varies — many people need longer, especially if vision is blurry or there’s glare.
🚗Driving at night is especially tricky post surgery due to glare and contrast issues.
🚗Make sure your vision meets the legal standard for driving set by the DVLA, and that you feel confident behind the wheel.
🚗Follow-up appointments and prescribed eye drops matter — poor vision or symptoms like increased glare = no driving.

🔍 Thinking about private cataract surgery in the UK and want to understand the real cost? Our latest blog is your guide to what you’ll likely pay — and why it can vary so much. 👇

📋 Highlights include:

✅The cost depends on many factors: the surgeon’s experience, the clinic’s location, lens type, whether follow-up after-care is included, and whether financing is offered.

✅Want premium lenses (like multifocal or toric lenses that correct for astigmatism or give better distance + near vision)? Expect to add approximately £1,000 per eye, depending on the technology chosen.

✅ Private surgery in the UK typically runs between £2,500–£4,000 per eye for standard care.

✅While surgery on the National Health Service (NHS) is free at the point of care, choosing private can give you faster access, more flexible scheduling, and alternative lens options — though you’ll pay for it.

✅ Important tip: ask for a full written quote that includes what’s covered (consultations, surgery, lens, after-care, complications) to avoid surprise costs.

✅ If you’re considering private cataract surgery and want to know exactly what’s right for you, it’s worth booking a consultation where you can ask:

🗣 What lens types do you offer, and what difference would they make for me?
🗣 What’s included in your price? Are follow-up visits & drops included?
🗣 Do you offer any payment plans or financing?
What’s your track-record and how many procedures like mine have you done?

🗣 Feel free to share this post with anyone who’s looking into cataract surgery or has questions about the costs. And if you’ve had private cataract surgery — tell us how you found the process, what surprises you had (or didn’t!), and what you’d advise someone else going through it.

🌟 Just had Cataract Surgery? Here’s how to safely ease back into your favourite activities! We break down what’s safe, what to avoid, and when you can ramp up your routine after surgery. 👉 Read the full guide here

🌟Highlights include:🌟
Gentle walking is usually fine right away, helping circulation without stressing your healing eye.

But postpone high-impact workouts, heavy lifting, head-down yoga and even swimming for now — these can increase eye pressure or expose your eye to infection.

Most patients can ease into more vigorous exercise over 2-4 weeks, and may fully return to normal activities in about 4-8 weeks, depending on healing.

✅ Want a smoother, safer recovery? Follow your surgeon’s advice, protect your eye (sunglasses outdoors!), avoid unnecessary strain — and don’t hesitate to ask if you’re unsure what’s safe.

Tired of looking tired? Dark circles under the eyes are more common than you think — and they’re not just about lack of sleep. In our latest blog post we explore the many reasons why you may be seeing those stubborn under-eye shadows.

➡️ From genetics (yes, you can thank your parents) and ageing skin to allergies, lifestyle habits and even underlying medical conditions — we cover it all.

🛑 But don’t despair: we also share practical tips you can try right away to help reduce the appearance of dark circles:
• Prioritise quality sleep (7-8 hours a night) & stay super hydrated.
• Manage allergies and avoid rubbing that delicate under-eye skin.
• Eat a balanced diet, cut down on salt, and protect those peepers from UV exposure every day.
• Consider skincare support: cold compresses, eye creams with caffeine or vitamin K, and elevating your head at night can all make a difference.

🔍 Want to understand why you might be affected, and what you can do about it?

💬 Curious if dark circles could hint at something more serious (like anaemia or thyroid issues)? The article touches on that too — and if you’re concerned, it’s always worth checking in with a health professional.

Feel free to like, comment or share this post with anyone who might be wondering why those shadows won’t budge. 👁️✨

Dark circles around the eyes are a common problem for many people, and they can make you look tired, sick, or older than you actually are.
