My body clock naturally switched to waking up at 0500, because I was now so full of energy. I started walking 15,000 steps each morning before breakfast. 9KM BY 9AM CHALLENGE - challenges you to take one of the 9KM By 9AM 7 DAY, 28 DAY or 90 DAY Challenges. Decide the 9KM BY 9AM Challenge 7 DAY, 28 DAY OR 90 DAY you want to complete.
2. Set your alarm clock so you get up in time for a 9KM walk before 9 O'clock.
3. You'll need a smartphone to track your walk so you can post a photograph of your walk map.

THE BOOK THAT CHANGED MY LIFE IS THE ONE I WROTE

On World Book Day, I’m encouraging people to rethink their relationship with alcohol and consider how small daily habits can transform wellbeing.

When I look back at the journey that led me to write Walking Back to Happiness – The Secret to Alcohol-Free Living and Wellbeing, I often think of it as three simple chapters in my own life story.

Chapter 1 – The Habit
For years alcohol was just part of life. Social. Normal. Expected. But slowly I realised it was taking more than it was giving. Energy. Focus. Sleep. Clarity.

Chapter 2 – Walking
As soon as I stopped drinking, I started a simple routine. Walking 15,000 steps every morning before breakfast. No grand plan. Just movement, fresh air and thinking time. That walk quietly rewired everything. My habits, my health and my mindset.

Chapter 3 – The Book
I wrote Walking Back to Happiness. It’s not a memoir. It is a practical guide to changing habits and taking control of your life. Because sobriety delivers what alcohol promises.

With National Old Stuff Day falling on Monday 2 March, we’re talking about hoarding - one of the UK’s most misunderstood mental health conditions.

It’s often dismissed as mess or disorganisation, but for millions of people it’s something far deeper, affecting health, homes and relationships.

Joining Sam, as always, is Nigel Jones - life coach, hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner, author of Walking Back to Happiness, and founder of 9KM BY 9AM. Nigel works with behaviour change at a deep emotional level and helps people make changes that are realistic, compassionate and lasting.
