A follow up from yesterday’s video. This shows the opposites of reactivity and response. Ideally we should try and gain more autonomy over our decisions and move from reactivity into response as frequently as possible.

At first it may be tough, it’s a habit to react and requires no effort. But slowly but surely it’ll get easier to respond more and there will be much less anger in the inital phase.

Be well,
Danny

Response vs reactivity.

We need to learn to respond in any given moment. Response implies choice and it’s imperative that we learn to be the master of our lives and not a servant of our impulses.

I feel pride also gets in the way, we have to step away from our anger enough to gain the others perspective.

Have a wonderful day,
Danny

There are a lot of ideas around trauma and I feel culturally we think it’s only huge significant events that can traumatise someone.

In reality we all have degrees of trauma that affect how we relate to ourselves, the other and the world. Do you avoid intimacy, do you feel the world as hostile, have low self esteem? These are all signs of trauma and usually we forget the origin of this trauma.

By engaging directly with these world views we begin to string together the past to the present and realise how it affects us in the moment. As we do this we can begin to free ourselves from this way of relating.

Warmly,
Danny

Contrary to having no boundaries, some people set them so high they can’t see people on the other side. They avoid contact as they feel people to be unreliable and a source of pain.

It can be isolating in this place and it’s hard to form meaningful connections. If you recognise yourself in this it is fine to have boundaries in fact, it’s a necessity. But try not to keep yourself in a pit of despair. If you rebalance the boundaries you can let the right people in. ❤️

Warmly,
Danny

A follow up from my previous post!

Boundaries go beyond just this post, but this is a quick snapshot and some ideas of what they are. 👀

It is easier to set a boundary early in a relationship that way as the relationship forms it forms around the boundary. If you haven’t set boundaries it is important you do so. This will probably be a shock to the other as it will change the way you both relate. But it’s necessary to help keep continuity in life and to protect you from being used and hurt.

My next post will be around the boundaries being too strong! 🙏

Stay tuned,
Danny

Boundaries are essential to protecting our well being. Without boundaries we get intruded upon and we begin to lose our sense of self. 🔥

We may end up confused as another pushes their beliefs on us. Expects us to do unnecessary things and tries to shame us for not fulfilling their desires.

By putting an early boundary in play we can protect ourselves from this. I will create a post soon about how to set boundaries so stay tuned! 😄

Hi everyone, this is just a hello to give you an update on my availability and to show that this account has a human behind it 🙂 I am still currently working on zoom.

It is not a shameful act to go into therapy, I have been in therapy myself for a number of years as part of my training. This made me aware that in-fact, I did need therapy. And that I wish I thought about therapy earlier.

Sometimes your in a life transition from maybe a relationship or between jobs and need some extra support. Other times there’s trauma from the past which you find inhibiting or bothering you and it needs to be processed.

Occasionally there may even be times though you are struck by the existential, what is the meaning of life, or the purpose of existence. And due to our culture these deeper questions find no satiating answer. Therapy can help assist in all of these areas. 🌌

Best wishes,
Danny

This is a small slide show on reactivity covering some basic principles. I think we can all be reactive at times and it’s important to recognise if it’s present stress or acting out from the past. Either way I show a simple but powerful technique that can help deal with reactivity. 🔥

Let me know what you think below.

Have a great non reactive day/night. 🌝

Here is a little slide show about will! And my views on free will.

I believe this to really be the centre of why therapy or a self development practice is so essential. By freeing our will we gain true autonomy over ourselves. We can free ourselves from the past and mindsets that limit us. This gives us the ability to act freely and confidently in the present without feeling that lack of worth or that it will all go wrong. That voice that puts us down traps the will.

I hope you enjoy the slide show, I will be adding more. 😁

Welcome to TheInwardVoyage!

The name was inspired by the mythic work of Joseph Campbell and the eons of stories, myths and legends spanning throughout time. It takes great courage to choose to turn inwards for healing and restoration. We all suffer and desire to be healed from past trauma that inhibits us from acting as fully and freely as we possibly could.

This is why at a point in our life we notice things feel off, painful, boring or even existential. And we finally have enough of exhausting ourselves acting externally whether it’s gaining more money, prestige, different partner or anything you could apply to your scenario. We decide to turn inwards, we realise this as the only way for things to truly change. And it’s my role as a guide someone who’s gone through training and my own difficulties to assist in your own voyage inward to discover and restore you back to your fullest most natural self.

This journey aligns with the hero’s/heroines journey of going to the underworld finding the holy grail, or treasure and returning forever changed.
