Last year, during a car journey, my children said, "You work too much, mummy."
At that time, I did, so I answered, "I know, and I am thinking of how I can not work so much."
After a period of silence, my partner said, "What are you thinking?"
I replied that I didn't think I would be fulfilled in my work if I didn't help others who couldn't afford to pay. I think this is reflective of my love for supporting people understand about twin and multiple pregnancy and I am sure you will understand what a difficult decision this was for me until I realised I can't help anyone right now and my help at this time could be more of a hinderence.
I am not sure where my sail will direct me if or how I will return to campaigning, but I do hope to be back because this work is my heart.

If you are expecting a baby as a parent or a birth worker or maternity worker of any kind, I wish you a beautiful and positive experience. Beautiful births truly are a gift for everyone.

I will be signing out of this account, and it will be occasionally accessed by someone else in order to continue stripping it back to be completely informational which I hope you may benefit from.

Big love and have an enjoyable autumn 🍂

Traditional Doula Courses.

Super busy over here I working with other "Traditional Doulas" to create two courses one for those who are already birth workers wanting to learn what it is to be a Doula in the traditional sense and another for those interested in becoming a Doula in the traditional sense.

I had Doula support in 2002 and I have always made it a point to not do any courses where I am stepping out if being a Doula and as such I am one of only a few remaining what I have started calling a "Traditional Doula"

Like those I am working with I have only ever been a "Traditional Doula." Due to what I have witnessed and experienced I am more convinced that the need for Doulas is now a need for "Traditional Doulas"

Referring to studies of many years ago that speak about the benefit if doulas while providing support that is as far removed from the type of Doula who took part in the studies.

To demonstrate "Traditional Doula" work in real time we have decided that case studies would be hugely beneficial. In return we can offer support to you and if you have a Doula already we can support them.

Singleton and multiple pregnancies welcome from all communities.

I had big designs for today and none came to be. I am disconnecting from tomorrow so I will leave you with this.

I will try and create a highlight before I go about NICE guidance and good reads and resources. I will try and share the books I mentioned too.

Being a Traditional Doula is everything already and doesn't require you to be anything me.

Supporting women and birthing people through one of the most transformative experiences of their lives is an honour.

It's crucial for everyone to stay in their lane, respecting the unique skills and knowledge of different practitioners.

I'm currently packing for a well-needed break to recharge and prepare for exciting new ventures.

I'll be scheduling posts for while I'm away and crafting incredible new courses to empower and support you on your journey.

I'll be going LIVE tonight at 7:30 PM to dive deeper into the significance of Traditional Doula care and why it's so important. Don't miss it! ✨

See ya later I hope.

I am working on a new course for Doulas. The first cohort is free. Do you wanna be free?

The world of birth has become fairly dangerous and worrying. I see much blurring of lines. Do you want to let go of all that stuff all that additional stuff and be you, carrying about the things you care about? Let's give it a go eh? Message for more info.

The Suffragette movement is a cornerstone of feminist history. However, the narrative is often dominated by a select few names. While their contributions to what they wanted for women like them are undeniable, it's essential to recognize the countless other women who toiled tirelessly in the shadows.

To this day this is reflected in all of society and the "The Birth World."

My blog delves into the lives and accomplishments of women whose stories have been overlooked. Critically examining the methods and motivations of the movement's leading figures. Using my own experiences I explore how factors like social class, race, and education influenced women's experiences within the movement.

It’s time to rewrite the Suffragette story with the truth and learn from it so we can review the current narrative of the "Birth movement" and the activists within. We must celebrate everyone for their contributions. Let’s not forget the countless unsung heroes and see their worth.

The fight for better care in maternity considered a "Birth Uprising," is rife with the theft of ideas, words, and names the norm. Appropriation and co-opting without credit are bizarrely common and justified with fantastical reasoning.

This makes their allyship and activism self-serving and performative, and factually as I can evidence places pregnant people at great risk. It's crucial to recognize the complexities and challenges faced by all involved, not just view people as tokens and mascots to look like you are in any way shape or form inclusive.

I may only have a small following but I will continue to use it to highlight real issues and unlike MBRRACE I am going to look to the people in and out of formal maternity services who ARE the cause of the disparities.

Meet some of the real trailblazers who made real sacrifices and the women who are writing about them today such as
and others I can't find on Instagram

New Blog Post:

Biased Britain The Ballot and Birth

Ever wondered about the unsung heroes the lesser-known figures of the Suffragette movement who fought for women's rights.

Here I write about the possible intentions behind the suffragettes if any that people can name drawing striking parallels to today's struggle for better maternity care.

In this post, I explore how cultural appropriation, theft of ideas, tokenism to seem competent, and discrimination are rife within the "birth world." These issues echo the historical sidelining of key activists.

True elevation and uprisings require evidence of oppression, but many performative activists misuse these terms. Their marketed desire to elevate is often neither altruistic nor authentic, and fails to be inclusive.

The fight for equitable maternity care can't succeed if we only uplift those already prioritised by society.

It's time to recognize and support all women and birthing people. 🌸

Join the conversation and help shine a light on these crucial issues!

Did you know the suffragettes fought tirelessly for equality, including in healthcare? Their legacy is often overshadowed by a few well-known faces. Today, the fight for better birth continues, but it’s dominated by well-resourced women advocating for experiences similar to their own. Where are the voices of those who face systemic barriers? Let's reclaim the spirit of the suffragettes and demand a birth system that works for everyone.
